It seems the lines have been drawn between the Xbox One and PS4 – and both are competing for your business. Which means it’s a great time to be a consumer.  If you dare go out on this fabled shopping day please be safe. Oh and tweet us @pixelatedgeek any awesome things you’ve found.

Black Friday Geek Guide

I’ve never gone Black Friday shopping – waking at 5 AM to fight my way through hordes of shoppers, just to save a few dollars isn’t exactly high on my priorities list.

But this year is different – stores are opening even earlier (meaning there’s a greater chance I’ll still be awake from the night before), and more and more companies seem to be catering to gamers and geeks. And of course, an essential part of Black Friday is the prep work.

One does not simply walk into Black Friday without doing a little research first – but lucky for our readers, I’ve done the research for you! Here are the best Black Friday deals of 2011 for geeks and gamers:

Want to prepare for Black Friday?

If you are like me, you like to have a game plan before you go running into a store on Black Friday with a crowd of sleep-deprived shoppers. There are many great deals out there this year, both in store and online.  These are a few great deals to watch for from Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. This year the sales are starting early, so watch the Sunday circulars.

I have some top picks of items for Door Busters this week.  Check all of them out past the break:

Black Friday – What did you buy?

The shopping weekend rush is now over.  All those hot sale items are gone, web servers aren’t stressing as much, and, after doing a quick Google Search, it seems like no one died this year.  Good job, America. So, did you participate in Black Friday? If so, did you participate virtually or physically? Also, what did you get?

After reading Andrews’ Dragon Age: Origins game review and seeing that Steam had a 25% discount on the title, I decided to get on that deal. Jessica, needed a new phone since her screen doesn’t even turn on anymore. I went with her to the nearest AT&T store and she got a great deal on a Samsung Blackjack. The price on the phone was originally $99, but to our surprise, when we got to the checkout counter, the price was $74.99.  The reason being is that AT&T was doing a Black Saturday event.

So, all in all, great food, great deals and lots of sleeping in for me.

Old Navy giving away Lego Rock Band on Black Friday

In an unusual cross-promotion, Old Navy is giving away free copies of Lego Rock Band during Black Friday. The only catch is that you must spend at least $20 on clothes. Also, Old Navy will be selling Rock Band 2 with a free extra Rock Band guitar.  Hmm… a clothing store selling video games. Interesting…. More info and deals on BlackFriday.info
