"It's good to be the king.(Via firemeetsdesire.com)"
You heard me. Welcome to “firemeetsdesire.com”- the only restaurant related site I’ve seen that attempts to virally market their food by feeding America’s other desire- sex. Not going to lie to you, when I was first directed to this site, I thought I got rick-rolled into going to a food fetish site. While it is a viral-ad for Burger King, after going to the site, the term “soft-core porn” seems like a much better description.
Each clip is initiated via clicking a spray bottle of what I’m assuming is filled with liquid Spanish Fly and pheromones, and takes you to what is essentially the set of a new and upcoming porno scene. From waterfalls to a bed of roses to a back massage scene and even to the undeniably awkward scene of the Burger King laying on a bear-skin rug in full on George Costanza-esque flair while doing the “come hither” motion, the confusing and food-fueled sexual tension is built to the soundtrack of cheesy 80’s “porn jazz”.
What I want to know, and I’m sure all the other nerds and geeks who now gain arousal from eating a whopper with their parents at the local “BK Lounge”, is how did they come up with this? Do they really think America is so morbidly obese that making a Pavlovian connection from sex to whoppers is going to increase sales for the 4th quarter of the fiscal year? It’s disgusting how arousing and hilarious the idea is.
I’m not exactly sure how Burger King came up with the idea of tying soft-core food fetish porn to selling those delicious flame-grilled whoppers, but I do know very well that they have brought upon themselves an onslaught of Burger King related jokes covered in sexual innuendo like-
“She wants her big meaty whopper hot when it goes into her mouth, with extra sauce. And she loves it when it gets all over the place.”
“She’s waiting to get ‘driven through’ at the drive through.”
But i think Dane Cook said it best whispering the words “pickles, shakes, chicken tenders, and sweet sauce all over my body.”-
My final word on this site is “Well done Burger King.” It’s pretty disturbing trying to understand how any part of your marketing actually came up with this idea, but I, for one, will now have the image of the burger King laying down in front of a fire place “grilled” into my mind for quite some time. Touche` Burger King.
