It astonishes me how many of my friends don’t remember this 80’s classic. This cartoon was so crazy that even when I was I kid I used to stare at the TV and think WTF!? Are these guys serious? Thankfully yes, yes they were.

I won’t get into too much of a debate over He-Man’s sexuality, but what other flamboyant man do you now of that lives with tigers? See where I’m going with this? I’m saying He-Man was probably gay. As a matter of fact most of the characters on the show were probably gay. With character names like Ram Man, Fisto, Trap Jaw and Reach Around what other conclusion could you come to? OK I may or may not have made that last one up…

Luckily as a youth I was too nieve to understand all of the homerotic undertones and just enjoyed the cartoon for the Saturday morning acid trip that it was. It featured some of the cheesiest most cliche voice acting I have ever seen in a cartoon. As a matter of fact I am more entertained by it now that I am an adult then I was when I was a kid. Although that might be a sad commentary on me as a man.

I think I’ve said too much.

Do yourself a favor and watch these videos. If you’ve never seen a He-Man cartoon before than you’re welcome, because I just changed your life. And if you do remember watching this as a child sit back, relax and enjoy a trip down memory lane. A very gay trip down memory lane.

Back in the 80’s, every boy wanted to be like a G.I. Joe.  Fight evil, fly special jets, be armed with awesome weapons, and always be on the winning team. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A! The show was so awesome back then because they always used state-of-the-art technology.  I mean, they always fired lasers from their guns! That’s much more cooler than lame bullets, am I right?

The toys were even cooler.  To pretend that you’re making you’re own episode or skit, just like they did in the commercials you would watch on Saturday mornings. Saying, “MOMMY! BUY ME THAT!”

But now, as I look back on this once great cartoon, I realize that real war isn’t all fun and games.  Real people die in wars.  In G.I. Joe, the enemies usually escaped out of their tanks before it was hit with a missile. So, no one actually dies.  And now, G.I. Joe is coming back as a live action film.

Releasing in theaters near the end of the movie summer rush, G.I. Joe is sure to kill my childhood.  Will I watch this? Maybe. If someone pays for my ticket, then definitely.  They are taking the G.I. Joe franchise in a weird direction that I’m not sure is going to work.  Are they supposed to be super heroes with special gadgets?  Unless they have an awesome plot and story to go with the new weapons, suits, tech, and cleavage, I doubt this movie or franchise will go any further.  Batman and Ironman already did it, and they did it good.

One last thing. They casted a Wayans brother?! How am I supposed to take that guy seriously after all the stupid movies he has made with his brother?

Classic beat ‘em ups used to litter various arcades back in the 90s. You couldn’t turn your head with running into a Battletoads or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade cabinet. And with the rise of services such as Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network Store and the Wii Virtual Console/Wiiware, such games have been brought back into the limelight.

When Konami’s 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graced its way onto Xbox Live Arcade, many wondered: would we see more? Well now, that question seems to have been answered with a revamped version of Konami’s follow up to the 1989 arcade game, 1991’s TMNT: Turtles in Time, for the Xbox Live Arcade.

Unveiled as part of the TMNT 25th Anniversary bus tour, the game appears to be in playable form. As an added bonus, the game has been revamped, rendered in 3D, though still retaining the same gameplay and style from the original version. No announcement has been made on when the game will be released but it would definitely be a welcome addition to XBLA.

And who knows? Maybe soon we’ll start seeing rereleases of that Uncanny X-Men arcade game or, my personal favorite, the old 1991 Simpsons game. Ah…one can dream.

As expected, the graphics for this game is lame because it’s on a Wii.  But, Wii isn’t knownfor thier “cutting edge” HD graphics.  Hopefully the game play will be fun.

This is the first time I’m seeing this.  An idea so simple, yet super creative.  I don’t think I can do something like this.  Well, I could try, but stick figures might not have the same creative effect. =P

Look who is joining the HD Band Wagon.  You can chalk up another “Simpsons did it” for becoming one of the first primetime cartoons to go high definition.  The first HD episode of the Simpsons will air toinght on FOX. (Check your local listings.)  But not only that, they finally have a new intro segment.  They haven’t had a new intro segment since 1989!  Congrats to the Simpsons.
