Public Demand for Nintendo Wii Begins to Drop
![]()
Although Nintendo has denied rumors that a Wii price drop is coming soon, it seems as though the company may have to start reconsidering their stance on the subject.
While the Wii still appears to be the number 1 sought after console on the market, according to the US sales figures from this past March, sales have dropped by 17% compared to sales from the past year. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 sales are on the rise, showing a 26% sales increase during the same time period, though still trailing behind the Wii in overall sales. Along with a 19% drop in DS sales, news of the 17% drop has apparently upset investors as well, Nintendo shares falling 6.6%, the biggest drop the company has seen in a few months. While Nintendo appears to be confident that the newly released Nintendo DSi may boost numbers, if this sales trend continues, it might be time for Nintendo to start considering a price drop for their little white box.

SF4: Gouken – coming Feb 2009
If you haven’t heard the news yet, Street Fighter 4 will have a new character. Gouken, Ryu and Ken’s master. Also, the game is set to release on February 17, 2009. I hope the gameplay will feel as nostalgic as Street Fighter 2.
Will Mirrors Edge Live Up to its Hype?
The other day I spoke to a friend about Mirrors Edge. Told him that I was excited to play it. I don’t have an Xbox360 or a PS3 (–HEY! don’t look at me like that. I’m a casual gamer with a MacBook, PC and a dusty Wii.). So, I have to wait for the PC release on Jan 2009. I told him I loved the trailers, story line, and theme song. Of course I won’t know about the gameplay until I actually play it for myself.
My friend told me he downloaded and played the demo. He wasn’t all the impressed. He felt that “the gameplay was repetative.” That statement broke me heart. He then continued to say that “trailers for video games are what get you. After you pay your $50, the video game companies don’t care about you. That’s why they put a lot of effort into trailers like Mirror’s edge.” I just replied, “I hope it lives up to the hype.”
What do you guys think? Will it live up to it?
