Pokéwalker to be package with Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver March 14th

Do you remember the ancient Pocket Pikachu or perhaps the Pokémon Pikachu 2. Well if not they were essentially Pedometers that would reward you with Watts based on how far you walked. You would then use the Watts to feed your Pikachu. The concept was pretty neat actually and was a great time waster through High School.

Well with the March 14th release of Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver the game will include a Pokéwalker. The Pokéwalker is an updated version of the previous released Pedometers. Instead of only having a Pikachu you can actually transfer any one Pokémon from any of the 2 games. Much like previous Pokémon Pedometers the more you walk the more Watts you get. The Watts are used within the Pokéwalker to encounter and catch wild Pokémon or search for hidden items, and can be transferred into Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions to unlock new routes. The Pokémon in the Pokéwalker will gain experience points as the player walks, and can even go up one level when they are transferred back into the game. Players also can wirelessly connect two Pokéwalkers to trade items.

Looks like I’ll be picking up another Pokémon Game. I wonder how my old Pocket Pikachu and Pokémon Pikachu 2 are?? It’s been about 5 years sense I last fed them…… do the batteries last that long??

Naruto Shippuden Ninja Destiny 2 DS

narutos_header

A Genre that has always intrigued me was the Pocket Fighter. From the days of the first Gameboy with it’s Pocket Fighter: Fist of the North Star. It was fun and portable something that at the time Street Fighter wasn’t. The Genre of Pocket Fighters have been slowly evolving to being an almost complete port of what you would come to expect of a Full Fledge Fighter. This time around it’s Naruto, while Naruto is certainly not new to the DS the Shippuden Series is. Packaged as a Pocket Fighter how does the Shippuden Series Translate.

As if you needed another why you should get Scribblenauts

Hands down, Scribblenauts will be one of the top selling games for the fall and winter seasons.  With so many words and items packed into the game, it makes you wonder what they didn’t think of.

Autobots Transform and Rollout. I know this week marks the official release of the Bayformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen. Strangely there is more then meets the eye in terms of releases. With Fight Night and Overlord entering the ring it should be a pretty interesting week. Though the Movie section certainly could use some help, minus the Chuck Jones Tom n Jerry Release!!! Feel free to post a comment if anything is missing.

Photos from Nintendo’s Press Conference at E3

Jamie and I woke up at 5:30am this morning just to get in.  Once in, we had about 2 hours to kill.  So, how did we pass the time? Play Mario Kart DS with 6 other people sitting around us.  Here’s a video of the epic race:

After the race we had to put our DS’s away and watch the big screen that was streaming the live press conference for us.  Here are some pictures from the event:

E3 Harvest Moon Sunshine Island

Had the opportunity to sit down and play the new Harvest Moon for the DS. I find that the transition for the console version to the handheld to be a bit strange. With the console versions it generally feels like a newer Harvest Moon but once you go handheld your back to the Snes days. That being said the transition to the ds has also been a bit strange. With the addition of touch screen controls it makes thr farm grinding a bit tough to stomach.

With this latest version of Harvest Moon it feels a lot better. I found the controls to be a lot better and the task of maintaining your farm to be a bit easier. The map on the top screen also helped a lot it shows your stamina and also the location of the villagers. I got to clean up my farm area in the demo and i really liked it. Felt the lack of touchscreen to be a big benifit. The only touch screen controls were with the selecting items which can be done without a stylus. It felt like a solid addition to the Harvest Moon series. Look forward to seeing the final product.

Someone at GameStop.com is smokin’ something

I don’t know how things like this get on to a very corporate website, but I hope they keep it up. If you look at the Chrono Trigger description, you’ll be thinking the same thing. “Huh?”
