Last night, we hit up three different parties after day two of E3. The first was Riot Games / THQ Party. When first walking into Lucky Strike bar, I thought “ok, it’s another mingling party with interesting people and nothing else.” Glad I was proven wrong when Jamie, Raul and I walked to the back private party area. Riot Games was giving E3 media a chance to play League of Legends at the bar. They had set up 10 gaming stations and encouraged people to play a 5v5 match.
If you haven’t heard of League of Legends, imagine this: What if the original creators of the custom Warcraft 3 map, Dota, created their own game? It’s completely seperate form Blizzard, but still with the DotA mechanics and other special features. That’s what this game is about. Now, I’m no pro at DotA but, if you have general RTS knowledge, you should be able to quickly pick up this game.
League of Legends has all the DotA fun from WC3, but with an easier store for upgrades and an easier UI to play with. I’ll review the game more when we get to beta test it. Until then, here are some photos form the party.
