The Kartel has an interesting article on the upcoming “augmented reality” shoe from Adidas. As ridiculous as that sounds, it really is true. Later this year, Adidas will release a line of shoes with some sort of barcode built into the shoe. When scanned by your webcam at the Adidas website, you will then be able to “jump into a virtual version of the Adidas Originals Neighborhood, and interact with stuff.” Here’s the crazy part: you will continue to hold your shoe up in front of the webcam and use it as the controller to… well, I’m not exactly sure, to be honest. Kudos to Adidas for branching out and trying something different, but I don’t really fancy holding my shoe out in front of my face and dangling it around just so I can explore a virtual neighborhood. Hopefully it will wind up actually being somewhat interesting and Adidas won’t lose all the geek-cred they gathered up last week when they introduced their other new line of shoes.

I doubt that when one thinks about or plays Pac-Man or even Ms. Pac-Man they get aroused. That is, until seeing this hot sexy little number. I guess finding your way to the ghost is going to mean something different from now on.

Put Something Mighty In Your Pants
Sick and tired of all the latest video games and gadgets burning a hole in your wallet? Sounds like it’s time to get a tougher wallet.*
Dynomighty Design’s Mighty Wallets are, well… mighty. They’re made from Tyvek®, the same material express mail envelopes are made of, and are completely water and tear resistant. These have been around for a while, but they recently introduced a couple new designs that instantly appealed to my inner-nerd. I really love the “Color Bar” and “Dot Matrix” designs featured above, and with over 25 designs, I’m sure you’ll find one to help you display your own geek-pride at the checkout counter.
*DISCLAIMER: Mighty Wallets won’t actually stop video games and gadgets from burning a hole in your wallet. It’s just a figure of speech, after all. Try some self-control and discipline, why don’t you?!

Bullet Proof Bra
A new category for defensive clothing
Bullet proof bra, now that’s not something I thought I would type but the BBC is reporting that a 57 old woman from Detroit was saved by her bra from getting shot. The underwire deflected the bullet shot at her by a teenage gang who were breaking into the house next door and saw her through the window. The victim sustained injuries but was saved from serious injury through luck and a strong underwire.
Sgt Eren Stephens Bell told the Detroit News:
“We need to get some bulletproof vests made from that. It is some strong wire.”
The woman is said to recovering well from her ordeal. For the rest of us, maybe we should all start wearing underwired bras? I know people with moobs could sure use them!

Gaming on the Go – Geek Chique
Have a need to game on-the-go? Typical portable gaming options too tame? Jeri of FatManAndCircuitGirl (a prototyping and hacks video blog) has her own spin on Geek Chique.
Using a flat panel screen, two Nintendo controllers, a purse, and her own custom circuit hacks she has created the Nintendo/C64 Purse! FMCG’s site provides a weekly show that covers many other interesting bits (no pun intended) of circuit bending and warranty breaking fun.

Behind the Scenes at the Jinx Photoshoot
Last Saturday, Jinx invited Jannica to do a photoshoot for their Spring 2009 catalog. But Jannica needed a ride up to the Jinx Fortress. Being that it was an official Jinx photoshoot, i said “OF COURSE!!!!” When we got there, we were greeted by the super cool Kino and given the grand tour of the fortress. Let me just say that this place was amazing. I couldn’t stop smiling and feeling like a little boy with a golden ticket to tour one of his favorite factories.
Each office was filled with action figure collectibles, posters, and toys. The game room had every next gen console (and a Wii =P ). The office environment was like being in gamer heaven. Fun geeky people, video games and toys. What more could one ask for?
Big thanks to Kino, Zac, Sean and the rest of the J!NX crew for the warm welcome and food.
Also, Hi to Jessica Chobot =D

Excuse Me, Your Geek is Showing
![]()
Introducing an idea that has already been done by other companies and resold at many retailers. Mainly, Hot Topic. No doubt you have browsed your local Hot Topic and seen a belt just like the photo above. But what is different about this particular belt is the fact that they are selling the belt with an actual NES controller. If you’re really a video game geek that loves to show off much you are in tune with the roots of video games, then this might be for you. They also have a belt with an actual SNES controller.
Go check out the official online store and check it out or just get yourself a tattoo like Nicky.
Geek/Nerd/Gamer Apparel
Over the weekend, I went shopping with some friends. The whole day, nothing interested me. I just kept following my GF and friends around. But then, at the corner of my eye, I spotted it. The best jacket, imo, EVAR!
After purchasing it, I felt kinda TOO geeky but at the same time proud. Which made me wonder, what geek/nerd/gamer apparel do you wear outdoors or to work that is SUPER geeky/nerdy/gamer that you are not afraid or ashamed to wear?
