DC Rebirth – Sept 14th: Godspeed’s Identity, Naked Guy Gardner and Not so Superman

This week’s books continue to surprise; it feels like the Green Lantern series is back, though under a different name. The book that actually takes place in space is called Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. Then there are books that I normally would’ve never picked up and find myself more than enjoying.

This week we are faced with the aftermath of Godspeed’s attack on Star Labs, Sinestro continuing his whole “feed the Fear Machine” plan, and to top it off who the heck is this Clark Kent? (The non super powered version.) There’s plenty more where that came from, plus my top picks.

DC Rebirth #1: Hope vs Despair

It’s finally over: the long and at times painful New 52 is no more. We now find DC doing a much needed Rebirth. Now for me the term Rebirth is very special. While I preferred DC to Marvel in the past, I wasn’t a hardcore reader. It wasn’t until a chance encounter with Geoff Johns – who convinced me to read Green Lantern Rebirth – that I really got back into comics. This review will be jam packed with spoilers so read on at your own risk.

WonderCon 2015 – CW’s The Flash: Interviews – Danielle Panabaker & Carlos Valdes

Prime Time TV has officially gone Comics. The CW is leading the charge with both Arrow and my personal favorite The Flash. We had the opportunity at WonderCon 2015 to interview the two techs that back up our fabled Flash: Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and  Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow.)

Comic Issues #172 – Characters that Gotta Go!

Everyone’s got a least a couple characters that they are sick and tired of seeing all over the place.  From comics, books, movies, and pop culture in general, the bombardment of some iconic characters can be pretty overwhelming.  This week the crew go over some of their most exhausting characters and deciding if they need a 5 year break or a 10 year break; although some are subjective.

On the way there the crew go over the release of the recent Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, the Batman’s Bat-Costume & Bat-Mobile, Flash teaser, and stick around to the end to hear Anthony and Elizabeth worry about the next racist Transformer.  GEEK ON!

Comic Issues #129 – Ready? Fight!

Maybe they haven’t quite recovered from Comic-Con yet, but the podcast crew is really grumpy today. Anthony’s glaring at everybody, Andrew’s bringing up forbidden topics, and Elizabeth’s just plain starting trouble. It’s a battle of wills, a clash of Titans! Or maybe that’s just the Batman vs. Superman movie.

Join our rage-filled heroes and heroine as they argue, rant, and still manage to laugh while speculating about the upcoming DC movies and what we could expect from a Flash or Wonder Woman film. Along the way they also discuss Comic-Con food, proper footwear, and how to escape a recording studio before someone flips a table.

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Trailer

DC Animated released a trailer today for its next animated movie based on Geoff Johns’ Flashpoint series. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is the first time The Flash will get to take the center stage.  Set in an alternate timeline where the entire DCU has been turned on its head, Barry Allen must team up with an unlikely Batman to find the cause of the time paradox and set things back on their proper timeline.

Flashpoint features the voice talent of fan favorites Nathan Fillion (Hal Jordan), Ron Pearlman (Slade Wilson), Cary Elwes (Aquaman), and the amazing talent of Kevin McKidd (Batman), as well as Micheal B. Jordon (Cyborg), C. Thomas Howell (Reverse-Flash), and Justin Chambers (The Flash)The Flashpoint story ended the previous continuity of comics, making way for the New 52 continuity.

Does this mean that we’ll be seeing new continuity stories in future DC Animated movies?
