We’ve known that the next generation of major consoles is coming for some time via patent filings, interview slip-ups, and internal leaks. Much of what we know is based on these ephemeral sources, and so up to now, discussions of syntax and semantics have been as prevalent as grounded, factual, logical discussion.
How often do we hear games damned as bad influences upon children and the impressionable?
In light of this latest surge of gun violence, and the predictable storm of politicians and pundits who would find it easier to move against violent media than the tools of violence themselves, it’s more important than ever that gamers speak out about the ways our hobby has changed us for the better, not the worse. Below is the first of a series of videos by members of the Pixelated Geek staff on how games have wrought positive transformations in our worldview and behavior.
Having recently reviewed the Tritton AX 720, I was more than intrigued to take out the newest 720+ for a test ride. I always appreciate when a company chooses not to deviate from former technology, but instead revisits and enhances it to near perfection. Gaming headsets like these are a dime a dozen, but not all headsets are created equal in both price and quality.
So how does the 720+ hold up compared to the older generation of headsets?
While Rockstar is known for the long gaps of time between information releases about their games today is a day where they have provided the lightest of Hors d’oeuvres for the fans. Two new screenshots were released today show casing some scenic shots of Los Santos, an region in San Andreas, which will the new home for players in Grand Theft Auto V. Another detail about the game is that it will have the “Crews” multiplayer feature that can also be found in Max Payne 3. While there is no release date announced yet Rockstar has said that this one will be “vast” so they are probably hard at work building the world for players to then wreck by driving cars on sidewalks.

It shall come to pass that in the year 2013 AD an Elder Scroll MMO will arrive for PCs and Macs.
“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said Matt Firor, the game director for The Elder Scrolls Online. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.” That team is the crew at ZeniMax Online Studios, developing the game.
Bethesda Softworks have revealed the source of that teaser image on their twitter – the trailer for their upcoming game Dishonored.
Players take on the role of an otherworldly assassin driven to avenge the death of the Empress under your charge. Framed for the Empress’ death, you seek out the real killers. But bringing them to justice won’t be easy: the city itself is controlled by a corrupt government who have strange technological devices, and threatened by a deadly plague.
This wont be just any “kill targets and win” game. Dishonored features a flexible combat system mixing ordinary weapons, cool gadgets, and supernatural powers given to you by dark forces. The player can launch stealthy night attacks or turn the city into a battleground with vengeful, open assaults during the day. The choices you make will determine the outcome of each mission.
No release date has been announced yet, but feast your eyes on the trailer below.
The Internet is known as a breeding ground for any and all rumors, and in this case, they’re focused on the next Sony console.
Not to be outdone by the Xbox 720 talk, recent “information” has surfaced about the next console release from Sony, suggesting it could be called the Orbis. The name may or may not be a codename, as the rumors also suggest that Sony is wanting to get away from the Playstation name, much as they left behind the PSP brand with the Vita’s development.
Just two short months after the official announcement from Wizards of the Coast about a new D&D edition, gamers are eager for any information about the new incarnation of the game that’s made the industry what it is today. As expected, the guys at Comic Issues are no exception. With Andrew still absent, Darran, Daryck, and Anthony spend the podcast talking about the news released, the rumors that fall out of mills, and what they’d personally like to see from the brand that they’ve loved.
The guys also discuss critical topics, such as as why The Touch is an amazing song, or if people who dress up as satyrs could be considered Furries. Darran also has a big announcement this week that he saves for the end.
Game On!
