DC Rebirth Oct 5th – Phantom Ring, Cybernetic show down, Monster Nightwing and more

DC Rebirth continues to delight as issue 8 makes its grand debut in the art of action. Seems like all of our characters are battling it out: Cyborg fighting Killgore, the Justice League fighting fear itself, all while Gotham is being overrun by monsters. Even our earthbound Green Lanterns have to protect the Phantom Ring from the Dominators.

DC Rebirth – Sept 21st: Sad Cyborg, GL makes Cookies, Monsters in Gotham and guess who’s coming to dinner?

DC Rebirth continues its onslaught of the comic book industry: the August 2016 numbers had DC taking nine out of the top 10 best selling comics. It’s great news for DC Fans, though I’m very interested to see how Marvel responds.

There is a lot going on in the DC Universe this week as Gotham has a monster of a problem, Cyborg is doing a diagnostic on his soul, and Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz have a baking challenge. Oh and the Trinity get together for some dinner.

DC Rebirth – Sept 14th: Godspeed’s Identity, Naked Guy Gardner and Not so Superman

This week’s books continue to surprise; it feels like the Green Lantern series is back, though under a different name. The book that actually takes place in space is called Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. Then there are books that I normally would’ve never picked up and find myself more than enjoying.

This week we are faced with the aftermath of Godspeed’s attack on Star Labs, Sinestro continuing his whole “feed the Fear Machine” plan, and to top it off who the heck is this Clark Kent? (The non super powered version.) There’s plenty more where that came from, plus my top picks.

Introduce The DC Universe – The Family Friendly Way

After a grueling day at work you return home. You are exhausted and all you really want to do is relax, then you feel the tug at your shirt. Your kid then asks one of the greatest questions possible “Da da, can we watch Batman?”

While the instant answer is yes, I then have to ponder the question: Which Batman should I allow my kid to watch. While there are certainly plenty of DC Animated options – there are fewer options in the Family Friendly version. You certainly wouldn’t want to pop on Batman vs Robin or Batman: Under the Red Hood. Luckily DC Animated and Warner Bros has heard the call and has some pretty decent options.

Video Review: Green Lantern TV Series

Hey all you Poozers!! Let’s talk Green Lantern.

With the Green Lantern TV series premiere tonight on Cartoon Network at 7/6c. The crew from Comic Issues got a very special screening of the first two episodes. Honestly we weren’t sure really what to expect from the TV series; our only hope was to rely on Bruce Timm.

All I’ll say is that we were pleasantly surprised.

Green Lantern Animated Series

Through brightest day and blackest night, a new animated series has caught my sight.  As a big Green Lantern fan, I have to say I’ve been looking forward to the series for quite some time. The official premiere is this Friday, November 11, on Cartoon Network at 7/6c. The animation is a particularly interesting aspect, as the series is the first of the DC Animated to go full CG.

[Comic Con 2011] Comic Issues: Day 2

What an amazing day it was today!  My body is already showing signs of fatigue, but that has yet to stop me from enjoying every minute of the convention.  There are good vibes in the air at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) and everyone is getting them.  Everyone I’ve encountered, from professionals to exhibitors to fans, have helped make this perhaps my best Comic-Con ever.

On our way home, Darran and I chatted a bit over what we’ve enjoyed the most about the 2nd day of Comic-Con (though it’s his first and my second and a half).  One thing that we both liked was the creativity in this years cosplayers, mixing genres and coming up with new costumes that we haven’t seen before.  Darran enjoyed the three panels he attended, all dedicated to improving his craft as an artist.

Go ahead and listen to us go on in the short audio clip below, if you want to hear what we thought.
