If you’re looking for one of those sappy, cheesy, awkward holiday specials, this is not that book. If you’re looking for serious, gut-wrenching, intense drama…this is also not that book.

The Transformers Holiday Special is ridiculously fun. It pokes fun at itself and any other holiday trope it can reach, but the writing and artwork are some of IDW’s best (not surprising considering who wrote and drew it.) Click the jump for preview pages and a review!

When we last saw the Scavengers they were trying to decide whether or not to sell the brain-damaged (and prone to draining himself on the floor…ew) Grimlock to the scrap-merchant, Demus, for a ridiculous amount of money. They were interrupted, not by the Decepticon Justice Division as we’d thought, but by Fortress Maximus. At the beginning of this issue we get to find out why Max was there, who he’s chasing, and what Demus has been up to.

Review and Preview – Transformers: Redemption

INTO THE WILD! The Dinobots engaged in some of the most brutal missions of the war—which made them damaged goods in the peace. Now, a mission to change the face of Cybertron offers a chance for something they never imagined… redemption.

The Dinobots, Slug especially, have been walking around with chips on their shoulders for a long time. Disliking Autobots and Decepticons alike, Slug looks for meaning in the bottom of an engex bottle up until someone waves a briefcase of money in his face. He takes the deal for one reason, justifies it with another reason, and ends up finishing the deal in a way that surprises even him.
