Sega’s upcoming Bayonetta was on show at the MCM London Expo and we were on hand to give it a short play through.
From the short time we spent with the game we were impressed by the smooth, fluid animation, especially in combat. The cutscenes likewise were well animated and fleshed out. Of course we’re not talking Metal Gear Solid 4 here, but good none the less. Controls were good too and will suit button bashers and combo kings alike. Read On

Eidos were at the London Expo with their upcoming PC/PS3/Xbox 360 title Batman: Arkham Asylum. For those of you who haven’t heard, this outing for the caped crusader pits him against all the escapees of Arkham asylum in a beat-em up style crime investigation RPG. Here’s the blurb:
Batman: Arkham Asylum exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum – Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Gamers will move in the shadows, instigate fear amongst their enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City’s most notorious villains who have taken over the asylum.
Using a wide range of Batman’s gadgets and abilities, players will become the invisible predator and attempt to foil The Joker’s demented scheme.
Batman: Arkham Asylum features an original story penned exclusively for the game by famous Batman author and five-time Emmy award winner Paul Dini, whose credits include Lost season one and Batman: The Animated Series.
Koei were front and present at the MCM London Expo this past weekend gone showing off a couple of their beat-em up style hack and slash games. On show were Gundam 2, the PSP Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce and a first play of Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires.
Multiplayer sessions were abound in the PSP bean bag lounge set up in the Koei booth with PSP pods set up for new players and a Wifi network up and running for old hands. Those competing even got awarded limited edition figurines.
More exiting on the Koei front however was the chance to get hands on with Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires featuring the good old hack and slash game play we all know and love from it’s predecessors. Added into the mix were mini quests and a bit more a tactical and strategic edge than other Dynasty Warrior games included in the Empire mode and some new characters. After a short hands on our impressions were good with the difficulty level definitely upped from previous games and the ususal graphical enhancements you’d expect. Combat was fluid and pretty intuitive as in previous outings with veterans feeling instantly at home. There was even a chance to design your own character and get it featured in the game, which annoyingly was causing crashes across all the 360s, but the Koei guys we all on hand to sort out the mess. If you’re a fan of the series keep an eye on this one.
