Binary System Podcast #96: The Kitchen Sink Episode

Since there’s no Night Vale to recap this week we figured we’d just talk about everything else, starting with our family in the path of Hurricane Irma (spoilers: they’re fine) and upcoming travel plans that are making our recording schedule interesting.

After that we talk about a Transformers game that Kathryn’s ridiculously addicted to very enthusiastic about and she’d like you to play too so she can get more points you can enjoy it as well. Then we discuss why we haven’t finished watching Defenders yet, and it has something to do with this Netflix show about drug deals, we won’t say which, but it rhymes with “Narcos” and it’s (appropriately) addictive.

Also we try to talk briefly about this amazing 80’s show called Friday the 13th the Series, and fail. To talk briefly. We even had “BRIEFLY” written in our notes and underlined and we still went on and on.

Binary System Podcast #95: WTNV #113 “Niecelet” and many tangents

It’s a nice rambly podcast this week, first with a Night Vale recap where Cecil talks about eclipses you can’t see from this planet and then gets stuck in his own recording booth. And then Elizabeth drags the podcast off on not one but TWO tangents, once about mythical two-headed snakes and another about alien tourists on Earth. And finally a segue into the Defenders, John Barrowman’s awesome DragonCon cosplay, sand castles, Lady Killer, Motor Girl, conventions, Cabin in the Woods, and “My Dad Wrote a Porno.

Binary System Podcast #94: Eclipse recap and WTNV #112 “Citizen Spotlight”

First off this week is a recap of The Great American Eclipse because SCIENCE. Then we’re looking at Night Vale’s first Citizen Spotlight, featuring a character who is entirely fictional. More so than usual we mean.

After that we look at the first episode of Marvel’s Defenders and talk about what we like (“WRONG NUMBER”) and what we hate (shut UP, Danny!)

Review: Doctor Strange Vol. 3 – Blood In The Aether

After a rough month, Doctor Stephen Strange is having the week from hell. The attack by the Empirikul drained the Earth of most of its magic, destroyed Strange’s library of mystical books and artifacts, and left the Sorcerer Supreme to defend the world with not much more than scraps and spit. Worse, the enemies he’s made over the years have started to notice that the Master of the Mystic Arts doesn’t have much magic left, and several of them are fighting for the chance to kill him once and for all.

Oh, and he also gets trapped in Hell. Literally, the really-and-truly real Hell. One of them, anyway. That was Wednesday, and it’s not even the worst thing that happens.

Review: Vision Vol. 1 – Little Worse Than A Man

It’s the quintessential American Dream: a respectable government job and a house in the DC suburbs. The picture wouldn’t be complete without a beautiful wife and two happy children, or at least that’s what the Vision thinks. So he went to a lot of trouble and made them.

Nominated for a Hugo Award this year, Tom King’s Little Worse Than A Man (with illustrations by Gabriel Walta) shows what happens when a non-human hero is determined to live a human life. It’s a story that starts out light and then gets dark surprisingly fast.

Binary System Podcast #80 – Alice Isn’t Dead Part 2 Episode 2 “The Mouth of the Water”

It’s our 80th episode, woo hoo! Enjoy this…completely regular episode. You thought we’d have a plan? Have you met us?

Anyway, we recap the latest Alice Isn’t Dead episode and wander off into weird tangents like Salt Water Taffy vs. Tangy Taffy vs. Laffy Taffy vs. Pixie Sticks vs. Fun Dip vs. Tang (we have opinions) and the movie version of Stephen King’s 1408 (not great, except for this one scene…)

Then we figure out whether or not the second season of Broadchurch is going to be worth the inevitable heartbreak and..look, we know we said we weren’t going to talk about Iron Fist, but we’ve got thoughts about Iron Fist, because we totally see what they were going for but man did they miss the mark.
