Mirrors Edge iPhone Trailer

EA has released a trailer for The Mirror’s Edge iPhone game that is due out next month. From the looks of it, it seems like a pretty fun game to play while either waiting for your dentist, doctor, or fecal matter to come out.

Mirrors Edge for iPhone

IMG_0106

EA is porting Mirror’s Edge into the iPhone.  But in this version of the game, it won’t be a first person (hardcore) pakour game.  It’ll be a side scrolling platform with some fighting. The game comes out next month, January 2010. Check out three more screenshots past the break.

Exclusive Interview with Adam – Fastest Mirror’s Edge Player in the World

woody

PG: What were your expectations of ME before playing it?

W: I expected it to be as realistic as parkour/free running is today with the exception of giant red checkpoints that you have to follow, and i wanted it to be really competitive for the top spot on the leaderboards.

PG: Has DICE/EA reached any of those expectations?

W: I think they have made it as realistic as it needs to be… but there’s some glitches that make it so unrealistic its not even funny, they need to fix those. Also it is quite competitive on the leaderboards too, but i don’t think anybody wants 1st as much as i do.

PG: How long did it take you to beat the whole game?

W: Haha i don’t really know to be honest, not very long though i had played the demo for a long time so i was already pretty good with the control layout and knew how to go about solving puzzles, i would say somewhere between 2-3 hours.

We, the Mirror’s Edge fans, had hopes and dreams of jumping, sliding, wall-running in our heads.  Oh, well.  There must be a good reason for it.

If you’re a PS3 owner, then you don’t have to fret.  There is 1 map you can download now:

TAG – If Mirrors Edge and Portal had a baby

Tag - The Paint Game

Portal is a first person puzzle game that requires you to use a special weapon to get from one place to another by shooting “portals” on the ground and walls. Get from point A to point B with a couple of obstacles and enjoy.

Mirrors Edge is also a first person puzzle game.  But, instead of using guns, you use your “free running,” or “parkour” skills to scale buildings, boxes, scaffolding and furniture.  Get from point A to point B with a couple of obstacles and enjoy.

But what happens if you took both Faith and Chell, got married, and decided to adopt a baby.  Well that baby would look kinda like Tag.  A free PC first person shooter puzzle game.  This game takes places on roof tops and urban areas.  Things look very much monochrome. To help you figure out the puzzles for your quest to point B is a paint gun.  This gun shoots the paint that give you special abilities. You only get 3 colors, and each color has a different ability for you to use.

Green – Launch off the surface
Red – Speed boost
Blue – Stick to the surface

Good ‘ol RGB. The minimum system requirements are as follows:

Windows XP
Pixel Shader 2.0a Compatible Video Card
256 MB Video RAM
1 GB System RAM
1.5 GHz CPU
200 MB Hard Disk Space

You can download this game now, for free at http://www.thepowerofpaint.com/

Does one REALLY need PhysX?

After watching this side by side comparison clip, you don’t really get much extra with the PhysX turned on. Sure it looks pretty, but isn’t Gameplay more important than graphics anyways?

Live Action Mirror’s Edge

Parkour always looked interesting to me.  It is why I’m still anxiously awaiting the PC version of Mirror’s Edge to come out so I can feel like I’m actually doing parkour when in fact I can’t.  Lets just say I’m in shape for it. Just not the RIGHT shape.  This live action Mirror’s Edge brings the 2 worlds together, complete with “red hints.”
