Game Informer Portal 2 scans

Game Informer Portal 2 scans

Oh how I love the internet.  The never ending supplier of information.  Today, the internet has supplied us with more information about Portal 2 in the form of scanned pages from the latest Game Informer magazine. If you take a good look at the scanned pages, you will notice that some of the pictures on the scans have already been released, but in ASCII art form. You will also notice that it is coming out for Xbox 360, PC and Mac.

Thank you, Valve, for finally bringing legit games to the Mac.

Portal 2 announced to those that are still alive

Portal 2 announced to those that are still alive

Did you survive your time over at Aperture Science Labs? Well, if you’re reading then of course you have. You’re still alive. (rimshot)  If the Portal ARG or the extended ending to Portal wasn’t enough of a sign that a sequel is on the horizon, Steam has posted official news that it is coming.  (OH JOY!)

Game Informer’s upcoming magazine cover has 2 official screenshots and will have more once the issue hits the newsstands. By the look of it, maybe GlaDOS is also, still alive.

On GameStop’s product description of the game, the wrote:

The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Oh man.  Working cooperatively with fast paced puzzles? Lets just hope that this doesn’t start any more frustrations between Jessica and I.  The New Super Mario Bros. Wii already has done enough.

Portal gets a new ending

Portal gets a new ending

The updates for Portal are getting even stranger. We all know Valve is hinting at something new but the recent updates haven’t provided much information as to what. The newest update has changed the ending to the original game. This is leading a lot of people to speculate that Portal 2 is going to be announced soon. If you don’t want to play through and see the new ending, just watch the video below. To help clarify the ending, you get dragged off by a robot that says “THANK YOU FOR ASSUMING THE PARTY ESCORT SUBMISSION POSITION”

Whats in the Box? More of Valve viral marketing? Or a great piece of fan artwork?

Whats in the Box? More of Valve viral marketing? Or a great piece of fan artwork?

WHAT IS IT?!?!?!  It has been almost a year since I last posted about this weird website.  With Valves’ Portal ARG in full swing, people are still wondering what exactly is it all for?  Another Half Life? Portal 2? Or maybe a combination of both in the same box like the Orange Box? So, there are two theories going around the net about all of this marketing hype and the video below.  The video could be something a fan made.  If this is said to be true, then Valve seems to be OK with the fan using their logos at the bottom of this weird website.

The other theory is that this is an extension of Valve awesome marketing.  In any case, it is damn interesting.

Oh and btw. If you look at the source on the webpage where this video came from, there is an HTML comment that says

The wait is not yet over

And from Wikibruce:

If you look closely at the very end of the film, you will notice below the flaming ring the letters “MMX”. Its meaning is uncertain, however MMX is the roman numerical value for 2010.

Gabe Newell Wins Industry Honor

Congratulations are in order for Gabe Newell, who has won the 2010 Game Developers Choice Awards ‘Pioneer’ award.

The pioneer award, which first showed at the 2008 Game Developers Choice Awards, is for those who are ‘responsible for developing a vital technology or game design at a crucial juncture in video game history, paving the way for the many who followed them’.

Steam is this vital technology. Not only has it helped the Valve team bring award-winning games like Half-Life 2, Portal and Team-fortress 2 to our computers, but it has brought us a constantly growing list of non-Valve games, from AAA titles to Indie classics.

Gabe Newell will be getting up on stage in front of over 3,000 of the industry’s top developers at GDC 2010, held in San Francisco this March.

Excellent work, Gabe.

Looks like Mario has a new companion [Comic]

Dueling Analogs caught this rare moment of Mario finding another “companion.”  Sorry if this photo is too shocking for the faint of heart.  Mario, whenever I look at you now, all I’ll see are moobs. (Man-boobs)
