Binary System Podcast #75 – WTNV episode 104 “The Hierarchy of Angels”

This week the twins recap the latest episode of Night Vale and talk about how angels can’t have building permits and dragons can’t practice law. (Apparently you can’t just tell somebody that the City said it was okay for you to build a roller coaster. Even if you spell all the words right.)

After that Kathryn gave us a breakdown of NC Comicon: Oak City, and Elizabeth gave us her picks for Amazon’s “Pilot Season.”

Binary System Podcast #73 – WTNV #103 “Ash Beach”

Anyone looking to take an early spring vacation? Why not take a trip to Night Vale’s newest attraction: Ash Beach. The town’s landlocked, so there’s no water, and the sand’s been replaced with ash from thousands of municipally burned books, so you’ll need a respirator. Other than that, it’s blisteringly hot, and hazy figures are infecting beachgoers with memories of things that never happened. It’s not a typical vacation, but you could do worse (although not much.)

When they’re not recapping the episode or watching Elizabeth’s cat lose her frikkin’ mind, the twins talk about the upcoming Convention season that kicks off with Oak City Comic Con in Raleigh. And for all you Transformers fans, Kathryn accepts the challenge to explain the difference between “Forged” and “Constructed Cold” in five minutes or less.

Binary System Podcast #71 – WTNV #102 “Love is a Shambling Thing”

Pretty appropriate Welcome To Night Vale title for a Valentine’s Day-themed recap, don’t you think? It’s actually the new Valentine’s Day slogan that the Night Vale City Council came up with and…what? Hang on…okay, that’s apparently not the correct slogan. The real one’s longer. Much, much longer. This may take a while.

Join the twins as they recap a WTNV episode with classic themes like romantic dinners at the exclusive Tourniquet restaurant, Classified ads (Lost: Moths. All of them.), and heartfelt demands for justice made by a five-headed dragon who’s still mourning the loss of 1/5th of her brother.  And if that’s not enough, there are also two references to punching Nazis. Because when isn’t it a good time to punch Nazis?

Binary System Podcast #69 – WTNV #101 “Guidelines For Disposal”

On the most recent Welcome to Night Vale episode we were told exactly what you can and cannot bring to the new Night Vale landfill. You cannot bring: physical objects. You can bring: anything else. And we do mean anything.

After that we talk about Saga since Kathryn’s finally caught up, and our techniques for remembering names that don’t really work, and finish up with the movie High Rise and how you really ought to have a drink while watching it. Maybe three.

Binary System Podcast #63 – WTNV #100 – Toast

It’s here! The one-hundredth episode of Welcome to Night Vale! It was amazing! And not what we were expecting!

(Seriously, if after 100 episodes this show can still surprise us, that means they’re doing it right.)

Listen in as the twins recap a Very Special Episode of Night Vale, and then discuss Netflix’s The OA (meh), The Night Manager (we’ve got Nathan watching it!), Mr. Robot (c’mon amazon, post season two to the Prime queue), Walking Dead (good job on the mid-season hiatus, AMC, you had us worried there) and Rogue One (no spoilers, partly because we wouldn’t do that to you and mostly because Kathryn hasn’t seen it yet.)

Also, Merry whateverholidayyou’recelebrating!

Binary System Podcast #62 – WTNV #99 “Michigan”

This week, intern Kareem is dealing with some family issues in his hometown Mitchigan. Mmmitcchigan. Mmisshtigan. Mishhigan. Mishhtigan. Okay we can’t quite get the pronunciation right, but it’s that state right between OhHEEoh and Canada. Kareem’s worried that his Mom sounds a little different in her latest letters. Nothing big, she just seems to think her son Kareem is still at home, so she doesn’t know who this total stranger is who keeps sending her letters. You know, the usual family stuff.

Binary System Podcast #59, WTNV #98 “Flight”

We just listened to the latest Welcome To Night Vale episode and holy cow. Holy COW. Okay everybody, let’s put spoiler warning on right up front. This is the episode when Hiram McDaniels is scheduled for execution, and things happen in this one. There’s an awful lot that won’t ever be the same, and there’s going to be consequences, that’s for damn sure.

Short episode this week as the twins reel from the latest developments in Night Vale. And just in case everyone hasn’t had enough negativity over the last month, we’re also gearing up for our inaugural Crap Fest episode next week. Read On

Binary System Podcast #57 – The Orbiting Human Circus (Of The Air) #1

Yes, we’re a little behind schedule; the second episode of “The Orbiting Human Circus (Of the Air) has already dropped, and we’ve only just now gotten around to watching the first one.

So how was it? It’s…interesting. There are things we liked about it, and things we definitely didn’t. After a quick recap, we talked a little bit about the current Transformers: Revolution storyline (which we did not like, and we’re definitely not happy about it.)

To round it out we talked about Sense8, Hannibal, The Descent, and Skottie Young’s delightfully disturbing I Hate Fairyland.

Binary System Podcast #56 – The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere

So, The Walking Dead, huh? How about that episode? Lots of important character development there. The cinematography was pretty good, and the lighting director really had to…oh who am I kidding? That episode was brutal and we’re still mad!

Sit back for a half hour of the twins going AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
