Binary System Podcast #55 – WTNV Episode #96 “Negotiations”

Binary System Podcast #55 – WTNV Episode #96 “Negotiations”

Things are a little tense in Night Vale right now. Mayor Cardinal has opened negotiations with Hiram McDaniel’s sister Hadassah, who’s acting as representative of The Five-Headed Dragon world. The Mayor wants Hiram to face the consequences of attempted assassination of a head of state; Hadassah wants Hiram extradited back to their own world for punishment (said punishment consists of getting a sticker that says “I Overthrew!”, since that’s how government works dontcha know).

So after we discussed dragons and destruction and strange spaceships that don’t seem to have a point, we also talked about Looper, Penny Dreadful, and Luke Cage. Ah, Luke Cage. We’re a little worried we might catch some flak for this one. Listen in to find out why.

Binary System Podcast #53 – A Pre-NYCC Two-fer!

That’s right, this week we recap TWO episodes of Welcome To Night Vale, episodes 94 and 95,  just because we want to give YOU all the content. It has nothing to do with the fact that we’re running a month behind. Nope. Anyway. Moving right along…

After we discussed Felicia Day’s guest appearance and how she was apparently dating a dragon, we went on to the final issue of More Than Meets the Eye, the last episode of The Night Manager (and how it’s true that Tom Hiddleston really is more of a lover than a fighter,) the last episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day, and (finally) our Doctor Who cosplays are ready for New York Comic Con! Keep an eye out for a gallery of NYCC pics, we’re going to get as many cosplay photos of everybody else that we can possibly get.

It’s an “On The Road” edition of BSP as Kathryn’s recording from the wilds of Florida, land of…heat and…rain and…alligators? Yes okay she’s sipping a glass of red wine from our parents’ place, but still. We go through hardships for you.

Anyway, we recap a Welcome to Night Vale episode full of dragons and stolen cars, and then talk about the Serial podcast, Wooden Overcoats, the final episode of Torchwood, and the latest update on our Doctor Who cosplay for New York Comic Con!

Binary System Podcast #48 – WTNV #92 “If He Had Lived”

This week’s episode of Welcome to Night Vale was so wonderfully weird, such a jewel of strangeness, we’re just going to dance around the details in the recap because we really really want you to listen to it yourself. Instead we discuss the additional weirdness that is The Last Days of New Paris, and Saga, the beautiful art of Civil War 2, and how last month’s issue of Transformers More Than Meets The Eye ripped our hearts out. Seriously, IDW, how could you? (We don’t want you to stop, but seriously. Ow.)

Binary System Podcast #47 – WTNV #91 “The 12:37”

If all the news stories about travel delays are getting you down, you’ll be happy to hear that the 12:37 to Night Vale has arrived right on time! Well, one hundred years late. On tracks that don’t exist anymore. At a station that was torn down and turned into a baseball field decades ago. Oh, and no one who goes inside has been heard from since. All aboard!

Listen in as the twins dissect the latest episode of Welcome To Night Vale, then ramble some rambles about Stranger Things, Suicide Squad, Zootopia, Batman v Superman, Inception, Niagara Falls, fan art, and maybe just a little bit of Pokemon Go, and how to pretend that’s not what you’re doing with your phone.

Binary System Podcast #45 – Alice Isn’t Dead #10 “Thistle”

It’s the season finale of “Alice Isn’t Dead” and as much as we liked it, what we REALLY liked was the Disparition song they used at the end (we put a clip at the end of this podcast, it has a hammer dulcimer, we love it.)

After that we had to address this whole ridiculous Pokemon Go thing. Yes, we both created accounts. Don’t judge. Also if you’re going to cheat while incubating your eggs, please don’t put your phone in bad places. Just saying.

Binary System Podcast #44 – Within the Wires #1

Welcome to Night Vale is on hiatus for the whole month. And since none of the Night Vale people know what the word “hiatus” means, they gave us a whole new series to recap. This week the twins listened to the first episode of Within the Wires, which seems to be a guided meditation for a mental institution. In the future? Hard to say. Apparently we were turned into a bug.

Then we went over the finer points of Doctor Who costumes, Pacific Rim, Battle Angel, Penny Dreadful, and that scary subsection of the internet that believes Hiddleston and Cumberbatch are victims of a giant conspiracy to put them in fake relationships to…make them..more popular? Or something? No, don’t explain, we don’t want to know…

Binary System Podcast #43 – An Alice Isn’t Dead Twofer

Because we’re two episodes behind in our recap, this week you get two recaps for the price of one. And since each episode of Alice Isn’t Dead was heavy on atmosphere and light on plot, that takes about 15 minutes. We fill up the other 13 minutes with Luther, Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, designer toys, and the scary (but strangely familiar) (if you’ve ever tried to get SDCC tickets) process of buying New York Comic-Con tickets. (Spoilers: we’re going to NYCC! Woo!!)

Binary System Podcast #41 – WTNV #90 “Who’s A Good Boy, Part 2”

The chaos in Night Vale comes to a crashing finale as the whole town joins in the battle. In the end, what happened? We can’t tell you. Seriously. We have no idea. Lots of opinions though.

After the recap we were all over the place, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Civil War II, Saga, Cowboy Bebop, Lucifer, the Fall, and any other distraction we could fit in a half hour.
