Just when you thought it was safe to visit your favorite Geek News website. There appeared an article, that contained a Cosplay gallery of SDCC proportions. Which essentially means, a metric ton of Cosplay.
In the wide wake that has been left behind SDCC your favorite podcasting hero and heroine Anthony and Elizabeth wash up on the banks of the Villainous Lair once again to be joined by their native friend Sara. This week the then “Leaked”, now “Released” Deadpool test screen footage is all the rage as hope is once again risen for a proper DP movie, but will anything come of the 4+ mins of taco lovin’ goodness? Also on this podcast is talk of the trailer for the Mad Max reboot, excitement for what’s coming out on TV this fall, and the creepiest siren you’ll ever hear in your life… thanks Chicago, we can’t un-hear that.
In addition to the cosplayers, celebrities, panels, trailers, and parties of San Diego Comic-Con, there’s one thing we can’t forget: all those wonderful toys. And books, stickers, clothes, trinkets, statues, figures, and every other cool geek item you can buy on the giant sales floor.
We’ve collected together a few photos of the collectibles we liked best, the stuff we’d want to decorate our own geek lairs.
The Marvel panel (specifically the Avengers: Age of Ultron portion) at San Diego Comic-Con was one of the most eagerly awaited, hard-to-get-into, and most talked about event of the convention. Thanks to photographer Hilary Papiro, we have dozens of photos of the panel, plus a video of the cast (Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cobie Smulders, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Paul Bettany) as they took the stage to Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ’till You Get Enough.”
While we certainly enjoyed covering SDCC this year, we’re always battling one thing: our battery life on our smartphones and electronics. This year was no different. Between doing social networking, recording videos and taking pictures it was a chore to keep the smartphones charged.
What’s worse is when you discover you have less then 50% battery and it’s not even the middle of the day.
Luckily for us, a certain booth caught our eyes and came to the rescue, promising a mobile solution to charging your devices. MoblNRG stepped up and took the SDCC challenge. So how did the MoblNRG lithium ion battery hold up? Did it give us the extra charge we needed to get through SDCC?
We survived Comic-Con! We’re tired, we’re broke, and we’re getting over the Con Crud, but we’d do it all over in a heartbeat. (Or in one year from now, we oughta be recovered by then.)
Join Anthony, Elizabeth, and Sara from the Villainous Lair as we debrief on Comic-Con 2014, sharing our favorite Con moments, celebrity sightings, panels, and stories about how fun it is to sleep on the ground. (That last one may just be Sara.)
We are all having the SDCC withdrawals, especially anyone that had to return to work… Well to help you remember the fun times, we will be releasing our SDCC daily cosplay galleries. Be sure to also check out our Day 1: SDCC Cosplay. Otherwise presenting for your viewing pleasure Day 2 – please enjoy :)
A very special thanks to all the Cosplayers out there, you made SDCC special for everyone. Well that and it seems you managed to raise the bar yet again on Cosplay, those costumes were amazing!!!
Let’s just admit it, one of the many reasons we love conventions is Cosplay. For me personally, some of the best I’ve seen has come from one event: SDCC (San Diego Comic Con). With day one officially behind us and many a sun burn to prove it. It’s time to see those dedicated few who braved the heat to bring us the brilliant Cosplay from Day 1.
Last night was officially preview night for San Diego Comic Con, which for most people means time to scout floor. You know get a lay of the land, figure out where all the exclusives are and what to pick up. On our way through various booths something caught my eye, well somethings. Yeah we had made our way past the colorful Mighty Morphin display and there were some pretty nice SDCC Exclusives. Dare I say: “TIGERZORD!”
