Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Spoiler Free Review)

On May 25, 1977 the realm of film, science fiction and the real world itself changed: the first Star Wars film was unleashed on an unsuspecting public, and nothing has even been the same since. It changed the entire medium for the better and became the film anthem for entire generation. On May 19th, 1999 filmmakers took us back to the universe of Star Wars: also changing the world as we know it, just not in the way any fan could ever imagine. Hate them or love them, the prequels are an endless conversation for the old and new generations.

The third times the charm; as of December 18, 2015 I can safely say the world has changed yet again. As the wind blows back toward something amazing, an era of greatness begins once more for fans from any generation.

May the Fourth Be With You!

May the Fourth Be With You!

Here at Pixelated Geek, we take holidays very seriously. The geekier the holiday the more enthusiastically we celebrate it, and so it comes as no surprise the May the Fourth is one of our absolute favorites. Some of us marathon the films, some of us re-install classics from our childhood; I personally took the time to break out Fantasy Flight Games’ excellent X-Wing  miniatures games and slogged it out among the asteroids inconveniently clustered round about my dining room table. Later on, I broke out the 2nd edition West End Games Star Wars Role-Playing Game and leafed through old friends and enemies.

I celebrated May the Fourth by picking up a copy of Fantasy Flight Games Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook!

I celebrated May the Fourth by picking up a copy of Fantasy Flight Games Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook, feverishly pouring over it, and plotting the imminent demise of some Rebel Scum!

Like all holidays, May the Fourth is always just a little too short, and it always feels like it rolls around a little too rarely. We’re not ready to let go of it quite yet,  so we’re rolling together some of the latest news, fondest favorites and coolest content from around the internet for one last Star Wars hurrah.

Star Wars Celebration 2015 is in full swing, and while there’s a ton of fun and fascinating content, today’s conference (April 16th 2015) was definitely a fan highlight. Between new faces and old friends, insightful glances into the production philosophy, hints at big reveals to come, and a brand new trailer, today’s conference pulled the heart-strings of every dedicated Star Wars fan, and ignited an excitement that has lain dormant since that sinking feeling that accompanied the Prequel films.
