Street Fighter IV for iPhone goes live on the App Store

Street Fighter IV for iPhone went live last night at the GDC Capcom Fight Club in San Francisco and is in the App Store for all you budding pocket fighters. First impressions are, it’s a fantastic representation of Street Fighter IV on the iPhone, but playing it without buttons is a bit of a mission.

I’m not sure what to think about this idea. Sure, Street Fighter IV is fun, but I’m not sure how fun it will be on an iPhone. It’s a very interesting move by Capcom and one that I didn’t see coming. As you can tell by GamePro’s hands-on demo video below, your thumbs blocks out most of the animated action while you’re trying to do some basic special moves like a fireball or hurricane kick. Two good things about this game though is that you’ll be able to play with another person with the game, wirelessly. The other good thing is that it doesn’t look like it’ll be difficult to perform an ultra combo. Just take the revenge meter and the combo will activate. What are your thoughts guys? Will you be plopping down $9.99 on it?

CES 2010 – Capcom: Hands On Impressions

Looks like an updated version of Rolento's Stage from Alpha 2

Had some hands on time with Capcom’s upcoming games. Including Super Street Fighter 4, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Monster Hunter. Also had the chance to see some Dark Void. Hats off to Bear McCreary the soundtrack is flippin great.

Super Street Fighter 4 – Xbox 360

What a treat to sit down and get some hands on time with Super Street Fighter 4. While it hasn’t been something really on my radar after some hands on time my opinion has certainly changed. The Game seemed to be a much more flushed out version of Street Fighter 4. The game ran really smooth and felt really solid in terms of controls. The Stages also seemed to really stand out, the newer stages seemed more detailed then the previous iteration. One stage in particular looked a little familiar. With some characters still yet to be announced it left me to speculate. The Stage in question seemed to resemble Rolento’s stage from Alpha 2. I went ahead and asked a Capcom representative and they neither could affirm nor deny. I seriously hope that Rolento is added to SSF4 I really miss that character.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom – Wii

Sense the days of Xmen vs Street Fighter I’ve been a versus series fan. When I heard about Tatsunoko vs Capcom I was pretty excited. I wasn’t sure how it would work out in the States but was hoping for an American release. I was also able to get some hands on time with the Wii Arcade Stick from Madcatz. Much like any of their newer arcade stick it felt really solid. One of the things that I was really impressed with was just how easy it was to pick up. The Gameplay felt much like a versus game with the more fast game play and flashy graphics. After the first round I started to notice more the strategy to the game. Leaving me really excited. The character selection seemed rather large, the only downside is it appears to be a English Dub for most of the characters. It was explained that it was do to liscencing rights, which makes total sense.

Monster Hunter Tri – Wii

I’ve always wanted a Monster Hunter on a console. Mainly I was hoping that would decrease the Load Times and just really streamline a game concept I enjoyed. Well it was time to sit down with Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. Thing to note we weren’t playing with just a standard Classic Controller we were using the Imports Classic Controller Pro from Japan. Which btw are super confy and were recommended for playing the game. The beauty of this game is it features online multiplayer which James and I sat down and gave it a 2player approach. The multiplayer didn’t lag and it felt really solid. Gameplay wise it still featured load times in between zones but the load times weren’t that bad. As for generic Monster Hunter gameplay it felt much like previous titles with a little bit easier time controlling the character. I felt this was do to it being on a console versus a PSP.

Overall

Capcom has a very impressive line up coming out this year. It seems that there is something for everyone. A very diverse portfolio.

Street Fighter IV adds a new fighter

On September 29th, 5pm Japan time, Capcom will be introducing a new fighter to Street Fighter 4. (Here comes a new challenger!) A new teaser page has gone up to get your mouths wet. Some people have already been speculating about Deejay and T.hawk coming back. But more espcially T.Hawk because of a photo from Gamepro Germany.

New Madcatz Tournament Sticks and Gamepads

It looks like Madcatz and GameStop will be pushing out more tournament stick and gamepad designs for you fighting game junkies. For more photos of the new designs, go past the break. There is also a (Disney/)Marvel VS Capcom 2 design.

Capcom will be selling stuff

In Capcoms debut PAX appearance, Capcom will be coming out of the gate with an exclusive tournament stick and a Street fighter 4 T-Shirt. If you don’t have a PAX ticket, then you’re already shit out of luck.

The Street Fighter 4 tournament stick will feature the women from SF4 and have a purple trim for your girly, gay, or metro side of you.

The other item they will be selling is a different color combination of a unique SF4 shirt design. The shirt is designed to look like an old boxing match flier between Vega and Balrog. The color combination might be a gray background with blue ink.

The tournament stick will be going for a wallet burning $159.99. We aren’t sure yet on the price of the shirt. If you want any of these limited edition items, get your butt over to the Capcom booth early.

Oh and if you see some guy demo-ing Monster Hunter, tell him “Jamie isn’t even being cool anymore.”

Paradise Hills Showdown 3.1 – Photos and 1v1 Finals Video

To sum up Paradise Hills Showdown 3.1 in one word, it would be unexpected. When I found out that the tournament was going to be held at someones house a.k.a “dojo”, already my mind was prepared for a small tournament with less than 20 people. When entering the “dojo” 2 hours late, there was a lot more than 20 people. There was so many people that a full bracket of 64 players were signed up and playing. Inside the family room, there where 4 TVs and 4 PS3s setup. In the backyard, there were 3 more TVs and PS3s. The place was filled with that competitive “smell” and excitement.

People from all over southern California came down to the event for the fun and excitement. But what were all these fighters playing for? $400 in cash. Go past the break to watch the Grand 1v1 Finals between Somuchdamage (Los Angeles) and ShadyK (San Diego) and photos from the event.
