[Comic-Con 2011] Interviews with the ThunderCats

There’s an old adage that says, “If you love something let it go, if it comes back to you then it was meant to be.”  I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the ThunderCats (debuting on Cartoon Network this coming Friday, July 29) but I’ve been a little concerned about the reboot.  It wasn’t until I saw this Friday’s upcoming premiere preview at Comic Con that I was finally confident of the new series. I interviewed several members of the cast and crew at SDCC about the series’ premiere; check it out below!

[Comic Con 2011] Comic Issues: Day 2

What an amazing day it was today!  My body is already showing signs of fatigue, but that has yet to stop me from enjoying every minute of the convention.  There are good vibes in the air at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) and everyone is getting them.  Everyone I’ve encountered, from professionals to exhibitors to fans, have helped make this perhaps my best Comic-Con ever.

On our way home, Darran and I chatted a bit over what we’ve enjoyed the most about the 2nd day of Comic-Con (though it’s his first and my second and a half).  One thing that we both liked was the creativity in this years cosplayers, mixing genres and coming up with new costumes that we haven’t seen before.  Darran enjoyed the three panels he attended, all dedicated to improving his craft as an artist.

Go ahead and listen to us go on in the short audio clip below, if you want to hear what we thought.

Comic Issues #23 – Thundercats Hoooooooo!!

This week on Comic Issues, our heroes prepare for the ultimate showdown against the Dark Lord himself…no, not Voldemort,

I’m talking Mumm-Ra! Luckily for our heroes, with some guidance from Jaga and the Sword of Omens in hand, they have achieved Sight Beyond Sight. As the crew members discuss what they thought of the new Thundercats pilot, this Sight beyond Sight also helps for planning, especially for upcoming panels at the SuperBowl of comic fandom.

Yes, dear listeners, I’m talking about San Diego Comic Con. Our heroes will be covering the event in full force, and today we discuss upcoming panels and events we’re anticipating.

Thundercats Sword of Omens Giveaway!

Thundercats Sword of Omens Giveaway!

When I was a kid I would watch “ThunderCats” with all the enthusiasm that a four year old possibly could  wield.  The adventures of Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, and company filled my imagination with wonder and excitement.  I fondly remember chasing my siblings around with a plastic Sword of Omens taking “cat justice” against their “mutant oppression.”  Those days may be long-gone, but a man with the heart of a child (or a child with the body of a man) can still rule with cat justice!

In honor of Cartoon Network’s upcoming ThunderCats premiere, Warner Brothers Animation has commissioned a Sword of Omens replica based off of the forthcoming animated series.  This 1-to-1 scale replica will be given away to one lucky San Diego Comic-Con attendee just for signing up at the Warner Brothers booth!

Thundercats Teaser Trailer

Last night during the “Hall of Game After Party,” Cartoon Network aired a teaser for the highly anticipated Thundercats. The quality of the video is not the best since it was recorded by a camera during the broadcast, but it is the best out there since Cartoon Network has not officially released it online. The new Thundercats is animated by Studio4°C, which is the animation studio responsible for: The Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight and most recently Halo Legends. Thundercats will air on Cartoon Network starting in July.
