[Press Release] Twisted Pixel Delivers New Ms. Splosion Man Challenge For Valentine’s Day

It’s been a while since the last one, but it seems Twisted Pixel will be hosting a new TMS Challenge for Ms. Splosion Man starting Valentine’s Day.

Titled “Shoot the Glass,” the third TMS Challenge will last through February 27th and involve, you guessed it, breaking several hidden glass panels as quickly as possible. However, there’s more to this challenge than just breaking glass in record time.

[Review] Ms. ‘Splosion Man (XBLA)

It seems whenever Twisted Pixel comes up, I have nothing but good things to say.  Then again, given its small repertoire of quirky, challenging, and, most importantly, fun titles on the Xbox LIVE Arcade, it’s really hard to find fault.

Thankfully, with the recent release of Ms. ‘Splosion Man, the company’s reputation is not about to change.

An action platformer with a simple premise and an equally simple control scheme, the original ‘Splosion Man was a rich, complex, and absurd title that really showed off what Twisted Pixel had to offer.  It was a game as unafraid of self-deprecation as it challenged its players with intense, pulse-pounding levels walking the line between complex and controller-breaking frustration.

Now, Twisted Pixel has taken the route Namco did with Ms. Pac-Man, giving the lead character a pretty bow and a feminine paint job.  But just how does Ms. ‘Splosion Man stack up?

Ms. Splosion Man Release Date Announced

Well, Splosion fans, it seems the wait is almost over.  Twisted Pixel recently announced that Ms. Splosion Man, the follow-up to 2009′s ‘Splosion Man, will be released on July 13, 2011.  After getting the chance to play the game at E3 and during the Early Access Beta, it’s not a stretch to say that the game looks to be a pretty solid and fun follow-up to the original ‘Splosion Man, with new gameplay mechanics building on the already solid foundation of the original.

With the game’s release just a few weeks away, it’s quite difficult to not be excited.  For more information, read the official press release below.

New Ms. Splosion Man Game Mode Revealed: 2 Girls 1 Controller

Earlier this week, Twisted Pixel began to stir some intrigue by announcing a new game mode they were working on for Ms. Splosion Man; 2G1C.  However, instead of revealing the mode right off the bat, Twisted Pixel decided to play up the intrigue by revealing a series of four reaction videos on their development blog; videos that showed nothing except exaggerated reactions regarding the new game mode.

Now it’s Friday and, as Twisted Pixel had promised, the new game mode has been unveiled: 2 Girls 1 Controller.

[PAX East 2011] – Gunstringer

Twisted Pixel, the company that brought you Splosion Man, The Maw, and Comic Jumper, takes away the controller with its new ambitious title, The Gunstringer and turns you into the weapon.  The Gunstringer utilizes Microsoft’s Kinect in its upcoming Xbox Live Arcade game. It is a third person shooter which has you controlling a marionette gunman. It is set on a stage in the Wild West, and the stringed protagonist is out for revenge.

The controls are fairly simple: you can make the marionette move left or right by moving your left hand left and right. Pulling your hand up causes him to jump. With your right hand, you target or mark up to six enemies. To shoot, you pull your hand back in a shooting motion; this fires the gun. This works fairly well and is great fun to do.

[Preview] Ms. ‘Splosion Man – Gameplay Demo and Screenshots

Twisted Pixel fans, do not be alarmed.  Just because the indie development company is hard at work on The Gunstringer, its first Kinect title, it doesn’t mean that Ms. ‘Splosion Man is being shelved. To the contrary, Twisted Pixel has decided to share the fruits of its labor with a brand new gameplay video and some new screenshots.

Following the events of ‘Splosion Man, it appears as though Big Science Labs has finally managed to capture the manic, burning man terrorizing its lab.  However, just as the company begins to celebrate, another freak accident occurs, this time creating Ms. ‘Splosion Man, a pink, burning woman.  Needless to say, wacky, meat-filled hijinx ensue.

Despite being hard at work on the upcoming Ms. ‘Splosion Man, it seems Twisted Pixel has also been developing a new original title for the Kinect: The Gunstringer.

Announced early February, The Gunstringer tells the tale of an undead cowboy rising from his grave to take revenge on his former posse after they betrayed and killed him (this is presented as a puppet show performed for a live audience).  If you’re wondering who in their right mind would come up with something like that, you’ve obviously never played a Twisted Pixel game before.
