Wooot the week before Halloween and all through the house, all the creatures were stirring including this weeks release list? Dang, this week look nice, with a variety of stuff. Let’s start with the Blu Rays with some Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. As for the gaming scene there are 2 contenders with the first entry being DJ Hero which has Daft Punk on there hells yeah!!! Followed closely by Tekken 6. Just a heads up about the Wireless Fight Stick Bundle that Gamestop is selling, reports are coming in that the Fight Stick has Soldered Buttons which makes modding just a tad more difficult. If you see anything that I’ve missed drop a comment.

GameX Day 3

Sun, Oct 25, 2009

Ah yes, the dreaded Day 3 of a good con.  Dread because it comes with an accompanying feeling of “Damn, I wish this wasn’t over so soon” as well as wondering if you should be there at all, because the last days of most cons are always notoriously lacking, for obvious reasons.  GameX did come with the feeling of wishing it wasn’t over so soon, but surprisingly, seemed to maintain about 90% of exhibitors and celebrities throughout the third and final day.  We left mid-way through the day only because of scheduling issues with getting back to Pittsburgh at a decent time.  Barring that, we would have, without a doubt, stayed the entire third day.

GameX Day 2

Day 2 of GameX, while starting an hour late for us due to an alarm clock failure, has proven to be just as fun and successful as Day 1.  More, actually, on both fronts.  I’ve never managed to have this much fun at a gaming convention before.  The staff is smart, hard working, friendly and willing to help with whatever anyone needs.  The exhibitors were, with one small exception I will mention later, top notch and full of win.  The floor? Packed today, people old and young, hardcore gamer and people new to the scene.

Wednesday WarCraft – Patch 3.3, fully explained.

Wanna bet that is a toilet, as well?

Wanna bet that is a toilet, as well?

Arthas approaches… Well, more like we approach him, I guess.  With a goodly portion of the Icecrown bosses either having already been tested or about to be tested on the PTR, it is fairly safe to say patch 3.3 is not too far off in the distance.

Wednesday WarCraft – The End of an Era

icecrown

So patch 3.3 approaches. Icecrown awaits. It is more than likely the final content patch of Wrath of the Lich King, if history holds true.  While this expansion was the best content Blizzard has released to date and probably the best expansion any MMORPG has ever seen, I can’t help but get the same, predictable end-of-expansion blues I’ve not yet managed to dodge in all of my years in this genre.  EverQuest, DAoC, WoW… When each of these games approaches an expansion, I am at once thrilled by the promise of new, amazing content and yet standing in one spot, sporting my now outdated Tier 8.5 set going “So wait, WTF am I doing this for, now?”  I have an answer, I think.

Final Judgment on VGXpo

Mon, Oct 12, 2009

vgxpo_logo

The time has come for me to level my Final Judgment on VGXpo 2009!  Another day of Philly kicking us in the nuts equaled us not being able to make is downtown for Day 3.  The story is quite a long, complicated one that intertwines many smaller storied, but you’ll need to listen to the podcast this week to hear the true hilarity.  Text cannot do our weird night and morning justice.  For the purposes of this write-up, long story short style, after a four mile walk to find a car battery and some nipple clamps… Just kidding, no nipple clamps.  But we did get a car battery.  And some live crabs.  We didn’t make it to the Expo today, though I do feel I garnered enough from Days 1 and 2 to render a verdict on this con.
