X Men

Review: Logan

Review: Logan

James Mangold’s Logan is the definitive Wolverine movie. Subdued, mature, contemplative and brutal, Logan arguably could be called the best X-Men movie, period. It’s Hugh Jackman’s tenth on screen portrayal of Wolverine, three in his own personal films. This marks the end of an era; we watch Jackman and Patrick Stewart bow out, as their time as X-Men comes to close. What could have been another throw away comic book movie ends up having more in common with a John Wayne western than a mutant laced action flick. This is by far one of the best comic book movies to date and will go down in history as such.

Binary System Podcast #52 – Ramble Some More Ramblings

No Welcome To Night Vale recap this week, since the Binary System Podcast duo has been traveling all over time and space this month. Well, all over space anyway. Okay, we each spent a week in Florida visiting the ‘rents. The point is, we’re tired.

Not too tired, since we were able to read the latest issues of Tranformers MTMTE and Marvel’s Civil War II (warning: massive spoilers and speculations on our part to follow), and then watch The Night Manager series, the last season of Hannibal, a tiny bit of X-Men: Apocalypse, and the first two episodes of season two of Broadchurch (ouch, not sure how much more of that we can watch.)

And then Netflix had to go release the next seasons of Luther and Penny Dreadful, so now we’ve got even more to catch up on so we can talk about it on this podcast. It’s a tough job blah blah somebody’s got to blah blah so on and so forth.

Review: Apocalypse

Once again it’s time to check in with everyone’s favorite mutants: The X-Men, now in their ninth installment in the franchise with X-Men: Apocalypse. This time around we travel to the 1980s where the Egyptian god-like being En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse, is resurrected and tries to take over the world and mold it in his image. Along with his four horsemen, he goes up against a new crop of X-Men mixed with our older crew from the past few films. What could have been a mess, and there are moments that are, turned out to be a rather fun X-Men flick and a worthy part of their franchise as a whole.

Review: Deadpool

After years of waiting the fans can finally stand up and lose their minds: Deadpool has arrived. The disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary with a superhuman healing factor, the “Merc with a Mouth” as he is called, has been let loose. He’s ridiculous, rude, funny, loud, tends to break the fourth wall and talk to viewers a lot, and pretty much will shoot anything. Add in some Ryan Reynolds, a few X-Men and you have the next big thing on your hands.
