Review: Worms WMD – Xbox One

Before the popularity of online gaming the term multiplayer had a different meaning. Well okay, it meant the same thing literally, but there was something special about having a friend over in the real world and playing a game together. There are a handful of games that do this, but Worms took it to a whole other level.

After countless iterations of Worms, Team 17 has returned to the realm of 2D and frankly it’s good to be back. How does this game hold up in the franchise? Is it another sit-on-the-couch multiplayer?

Black Friday – Gaming Edition

While I’m more of a Cyber Monday type of guy, mainly cause I’m not a fan of lines or being trampled, there are more than a few tempting deals this Black Friday season, especially if you are a gamer. It seems the lines have been drawn between the Xbox One and PS4 – and both are competing for your business. Which means it’s a great time to be a consumer.  If you dare go out on this fabled shopping day please be safe. Oh and tweet us @pixelatedgeek any awesome things you’ve found.

Review: Rise of the Tomb Raider – Xbox One

Before the reboot of the Tomb Raider series my experience with Lara Croft was extremely limited. I saw the movies with Angelina and even watched my wife play through most of the series. While the game certainly seemed entertaining I just didn’t see Lara’s true potential – until the reboot.

Fast forward and we are introduced to the Rise of the Tomb Raider. Being the successor of the beloved Tomb Raider of 2013 it had rather large shoes to fill. Before I jump into my full review  – the games narrative is fantastic and one of the more engaging Tomb Raider stories I’ve seen. Just saying Nathan Drake – Lara’s back.

Hands On Impression – Transformers Devastation

I’ve been attending San Diego Comic Con International since the late 90s and there is one booth that always seems to be the first stop. The Hasbro booth is not only one of the largest booths, but you can’t help but stop and admire the rather large collection of Transformers as they are more then meets the eye.

While doing my routine stop, I happened to notice something a little different this year, there has been TVs in the past, but this one featured Platinum Games: Transformers Devastation. Even better, it happened to be a playable demo. Has Platinum Games made the ultimate Transformers game, or are we looking at another Legend of Korra.

Mad Max – E3 Story Trailer

Leave it to another outlier game at E3 to get me all excited again. Last year it was Shadows of Mordor (another Warner Bros game,) a game that lots of people praised but was totally out of left field and a surprise hit. This year I have a feeling that Mad Max will be similar, much like the movie just a month ago (which was awesome and I highly recommend). Hit the link to see the new trailer!

Dark Souls III Revealed – Prepare to Die The Last Time?

Surprise! In a quick (although spoiled about a week ago) announcement, we now know that Dark Souls III is on it’s way into this world. What did we learn? I invite you to read on, dear reader (and/or masochist).

Releasing in early 2016 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC – this looks to be possibly the last entry in the Dark Souls series of games. With Hidetaka Miyazaki at the helm of this installment – after a hiatus from Dark Souls 2 to direct the lovely Bloodborne – I’m sure it will be a suitable ending.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailer may be Kojima’s last

E3 2015 hasn’t even officially begun and yet we’ve been treated with a slew of trailers for upcoming games. One trailer in particular caught my attention…Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was a standout and it might also be the very last time we see a Metal Gear trailer with series creator Hideo Kojima still as lead on this legendary property. Past trailers have always captured the tone of the Metal Gear game being promoted and I can’t help but think that that is in part due to Kojima’s influence. This trailer remains consistent to his vision and does not disappoint. Hit the jump to check out the trailer!
