Vroom Vroom!! Here comes the Batmobile!

There are a handful of things that the world can agree and purely awesome.  The cheer of a crowd, a kitten’s purr, and now the roar of Batman’s new Batmobile.  Yesterday Rocksteady released a new video for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight and the Dark Knight’s newest toy, his trusty Batmobile.  The video is short and informative, but oh what a tease for next week’s E3 where Rocksteady promises more.

Strider Review

It has been about fourteen years since the last time Strider Hiryu appeared in a proper Strider game. But 2014 is a year of new beginnings, and so the long-awaited and much-anticipated new title in the Strider series has revealed itself. The new game, simply titled Strider, is a platforming action-adventure game in the vein of such titles as Metroid and Castlevania. The more you progress through the more you’ll need to acquire additional abilities to continue further on.

Strider is not a remake of the classic arcade game by the same name, it’s more like a reimagining of the arcade classic. The story is based off the original but the game play has been updated to that of a non-linear experience. As mentioned above, in order to progress through the game you must acquire upgrades to bolster Strider Hiryu’s abilities and fight off hordes of mechanized soldiers. Surprisingly, Strider was developed by Double Helix, the guys behind the latest Killer Instinct game. This is also the same studio that was recently purchased by internet retail giant Amazon.com.

Battlefield 4 is the best shooter of the next gen consoles so far

It seems like just yesterday that we were booting up our consoles and PCs and loading them up with “Battlefield 3”. But, alas, that was two long years ago. The good news, however, is that we have a brand new “Battlefield” game to sink tens of thousands of hours into. Now normally, there was a good stretch of years between “Battlefield” games. But in the case of “Battlefield 4”, it only took developer DICE two years to make it. So let’s see how they did.

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition announced for next-gen systems

The critically-acclaimed reboot of Tomb Raider is coming to next-generation systems as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on January 28th, 2014 for $59.99.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has been “fully re-built” for the XBox One and Playstation 4. “This was a continued labor of love,” said Crystal Dynamics Executive Producer Scot Amos.  We pulled the game apart and rebuilt it with painstaking detail to add enhanced visual storytelling but without changing the award winning tale. The end result is a cinematic living world.”

A remake may seem a little earlier, but it isn’t terribly surprising considering the game’s release date at the tail end of the PS3/360 era. The remake features revolutionary new graphics, a brand-new redesigned model for Lara with even more detailed effects, and all currently released downloadable content.

[Xbox One] Hands on with Forza 5

The first of the Next-Gen racers has arrived, and at about 120mph this game is a sight to be seen. As Forza 5 is Microsoft’s flagship racer and an Xbox One launch title, I couldn’t resist. I’m not much of a racer fan (unless you count F-Zero GX and the Mach 5) but I was hoping to truly see something astounding, something that could perhaps sell me on the Xbox One.

So what place does this racer come in? Is it a major selling point for the Xbox One and this next generation of gaming?

[Xbox One] Hands On with Killer Instinct

Twas the year of blood as the gaming industry switches to the fighting genre. After one title brought the Kombat and so much more, it seemed like there was an endless stream of fighting games. Then came a very Rare title, one that offered endless combos and an announcer yelling out just how good the combo was. I had the opportunity to sit down with Microsoft’s flagship launch title for the upcoming Xbox One. To paraphrase the fabled tv show Portlandia, “The 90’s are alive” in Killer Instinct.

If you haven’t ever played a Killer Instinct title, it’s totally worth a look, as it’s an unapologetic look at the 90’s. What really makes the series so fantastic was a combination of Combos, ultra violence, and getting to hear just how well you did.
