The Legend of Zelda is coming to Netflix

In a recent article posted to the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, a source “familiar” with the project reports that Netflix is working closely with Nintendo to develop a television series based on The Legend of Zelda. Although there are no writers attached to the supposed project, this rumor alone has garnered a lot of attention.

Have you ever had a day where you wished you could play a mash-up of games that you particularly enjoy? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have the game for you! Hyrule Warriors is a mixture of the ever-popular Legend of Zelda series and the beat ‘em up version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors. And it plays exactly as you might imagine it, Dynasty Warriors with a Legend of Zelda skin on it.

Considering the repetitive nature of the Warriors series, can a dose of Zelda make this game worth a purchase? Hit the jump to learn more!

The Zelda Project – Taking Cosplay to Another Level

The Zelda Project – Taking Cosplay to Another Level

Cosplay is an art form that takes a lot of time, dedication, and money.  At almost every event that the Pixelated Geek staff covers, we are impressed with what dedicated fans do to represent their favorite franchise and/or character.  However, it is not often that we are blown away by such fantastically detailed costumes.

Recently, we were tipped off about a group of very dedicated cosplayers that are recreating the Zelda universe in real life.  The Zelda Project (TZP) is a grassroots cosplay project originally thought out by costume designer, Sarah Quillian. The TZP team’s goal is to create a very detailed and unique film trailer by December 2011.  The first part of their project, which is currently underway, consists of creating the costumes, hiring the right looking actors that look similar to the characters, finding the right locations that could represent Hyrule, then creating beautiful photosets like the one seen past the break.

Top 5 Reasons the Wii Sucks

Top 5 Reasons the Wii Sucks

When the Wii launched in 2006 it became a huge success, selling out across America and bringing in the casual audience in record numbers. However, the honeymoon has long since passed and those rose-tinted glasses are starting to crack. Nintendo‘s little white system has surely captured the casual market, and acheived record sells. However, the system has certainly garnered a reputation among gamers as your mom’s system, a kiddie system, full of games like ‘Little Kitties Like to have Tea and Dress Up 4″. So here are my Top 5 Reasons the Wii Sucks.

5) Waggle is a gimmick

Early testing of a Nintendogs for Wii

Remember how exciting the idea of playing a Zelda where you controlled the sword was? You imagined angling your attacks perfectly, slicing through enemy’s defenses as you saved the world yet again. Then remember how, instead of that, you ended up just shaking your wrist around for hours on end while sitting on your couch? Games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed could have been amazing. Instead, I ended up just shaking my hand around wildly, completely at random as my character went through his specific character animations regardless of how I moved my hands. Read On

Top 5 Things I want out of Infamous 2

Top 5 Things I want out of Infamous 2

The first Infamous was a wonderful surprise that left many gamers hungry for more electric themed parkour style heroism, or villainy depending on how you wanted to shape the world around you.  Or you may have just liked red electricity more than blue electricity and really, who doesn’t?  Since the game was both a critical and commercial success for Sony and Sucker Punch a sequel was as inevitable as a Zelda title having the exact same framework as the last one. (But who cares Zelda is awesome! And sequels can be as well.)

Or they could be Spiderman 3. Why God? Spiderman 2 was so well made. Who let this happen?

So with Infamous 2’s new game-play footage already making waves on the Internet I thought it was time for a Top 5 Things I want out of Infamous 2 list.  Read on past the break for more. Read On

Top 5 Games to look for at E3

E3 will soon be upon us and the interwebs will soon be flooded with information on every game, from a possible new Grand Theft Auto to Project Natal. Here is my top 5 games to look for at this years E3.
5)Infamous 2

Cool guys walk away, I mean, cause explosions

The first Infamous was one of my favorite titles of 2009. A beautiful looking open world with stellar graphics it got (deservedly) rave reviews. Even though lead character Cole McGrath talked like Clint Eastwood snarling, the game did not suffer for it. Throw in a crazy ending and you have all the ingredients for a stellar sequel.

Top 5 Reasons you should be playing 3D Dot Game Heroes

Atlus games has been making quality games for a while now.  Sometimes they make games that make you want to curl up into a ball in the corner and cry for your mommy to make the bad things go away (I’m looking at you Demon Souls).  But yesterday they dropped 3D Dot Game Heroes, a delightful trip into nostalgia. Ok, not just nostalgia, into Zelda. But who doesn’t love Zelda. So here are my top 5 reasons you should be playing 3D Dot Game Heroes.

5) The Humor

This game is stuffed to the brim with references to other games and gaming memes.  You never know what the characters are going to say to you.  For instance I walked up to a cat who asked me “purr?” which then gave me a prompt to say yes or no.  Yes, I am talking about having a conversation with a cat.  In fact the cat was very helpful and gave me some tips.  There are so many inside jokes in this title it’s hard to count.  Plus plenty of original jokes of their own.

Top 5 Wii Exclusives

Nintendo‘s Wii console took the market by storm when it first debuted in 2006. What many gamers dismissed as not having the hardware to compete in today’s HD market has instead become the most successful system of this generation. Of course you need games for your popular system. So here are my top 5 Wii Exclusives. No, Wii Sports is not on the list. Sorry.
5)Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Poor Luigi. Even in the group photo he is stuck in the background

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is an amazing game.  The controls are easy to get the hang of, the action is chaotic, and you can’t find a better cast of characters anywhere. Endless nights of “Hey man, you wanna Smash?”. Who would have thought they could create such an addictive fighter based off of such a cuddly character base. Well I guess Bowser isn’t very cuddly. But I bet under that shell is just a big teddy bear of a heart, crying out for love.
