She’s Got Game

Females have become a rather dominating force in the gaming world. The ESA did a study in 2009 where they found that females made up 40% of gamers.  I predict that it will only take a couple of years before there will be no real measurable difference between the amounts of male and female gamers.

One of the more fascinating outcomes due to female gaming is the sudden surge of explicitly girl gaming websites, clubs, clans, and blogs.  Gaming has become… pink!  I was looking the other day at pink controller cases, and I own a pink Nintendo DS.  I remember the first Pokemon game that gave you the choice of being a male OR a female!  Girls have rocked the gaming world from the bottom up, and we are here to stay.  Games not only have to appeal to guys, but to females now as well, and in order to appeal to us, the game industry has to know our perspective.

So, welcome to the She’s Got Game blog, the newest edition to Pixelated Geek, and the female gamer perspective.

We do not intend to be here to flirt, or to try to destroy male egos (although kudos to those who do!).  Instead, we want to be viewed simply as girls who like to play video games, and we want to invite even more girls into the video game world.  It can be pretty scary out there sometimes.

If you are a girl, and you are interested in writing for She’s Got Game, leave a comment and we will get in touch.
