Call of Duty:Black Ops is going to steamroll through your personal life next Tuesday, and millions of gamers couldn’t be happier. Sure, there are some worries when Treyarch is behind the wheel and not Infinity Ward. Still, this game is going to dominate the sales charts and the online scene for months to come. So here are my Top 5 Reasons I am Excited for Call of Duty Black Ops.
5) It’s not World War 2
As far as wars go, World War 2 gets all the glory. Every form of media is infatuated with World War 2 and for good reason. Giant battles and clear enemies make it a playground for creative minds to forge stories. However, the market has become ridiculously over-saturated with games from the era, and it is nice to see someone branching out. With the game being set in the Cold War, the developers are able to craft their own stories and events based on the paranoia that defined the era.
4) New Online Features
When you are following a game like Modern Warfare 2, arguably the biggest online shooter ever, you have to be sure to deliver something fresh to grab gamers’ attentions. Black Ops looks like it is adding a lot to the formula, while not straying to far from what people already love. New perks, new weapons, and new ways to customize your game play make Black Ops look like a winner. Plus you can put your clan tag on your gun. Sweet.
3) Crazy 70s Weapons
When you were little, you probably thought of a lot of crazy ideas for some really sweet guns. Some people grow up and try and make those dreams a reality. In order to accomplish bringing their dream guns to life, they have to first start with a prototype. Now many guns don’t make it out of the prototype stage. Treyarch thought it would be fun to bring some of these weapons to life. Throwing knives? So passe: this game has knives that shoot from their handles. Oh yeah, things are going to get crazy.
2) Did you see all those helicopters?
The trailers for Call of Duty: Black Ops have made two things very clear. Headbands are awesome (duh), and helicopter shots are never not cool. Now I don’t think there will be as many helicopters in the game as in the trailers, there would need to be one for at least half of every level, but there will be helicopters in the game. A lot of them. Unless, the trailers were comprised mostly from the one time you ride in one.
1) JFK and Nixon finally teaming up
When zombies need killing, it brings all kinds of people together bound by their love of bashing in zombie heads. So Treyarch decided to call in the big guns for this year’s zombie-kill-a-palooza. Nixon and JFK are teaming up to take out the zombie horde. That’s right. Oh, and Castro too. So enjoy killing those zombies as boring soldiers for now. A new dream team is coming.
