When you think of rap, you think of tricked out cars, large jewelry, and really nice cribs. When you think of nerd, you think of calculators, Dungeons and Dragons, and proper grammar. MC Frontalot has merged the two worlds together.
Nerdcore HipHop is the combination of Hip Hop and nerd and geek culture. It is the brainchild of Damian Hess, aka, the world’s 579th greatest rapper, MC Frontalot. He gained mainstream popularity through the documentary NerdCore Rising (2008), which followed his journey to geekdom. He has been recognized by the creators of the web comic series, Penny Arcade, which has led to performances at Penny Arcade Expo. Recently he appeared in Greensboro, NC where I caught up with him for an interview, in which he reveals among other things, his favorite video game and which Power Ranger should be played by Natalie Portman.
