And it is easily the most disturbing and depressing game trailer I have ever seen. Does that give me high hopes for Dead Island? I’m really not a fan of zombies (I have a runaway imagination, so anything scary doesn’t go over well with me), but I am sure it will give you, super-zombie-killer, very high hopes. That being said, this is a fair warning about the trailer: if you are pregnant, have heart problems, or really just don’t like being depressed after watching a one minute trailer, then please don’t watch this. I warned you. Seriously.
The game is, for the most part, still a hack-and-slash-and-survive kind of zombie game. There is some story involved (along the way, you discover why the outbreak occurred, etc.), but there isn’t what sounds like a “deep” story.
The game is built for co-op somewhat like Left 4 Dead, but instead of being able to find random rooms of guns (it never really occurred to me until now how strange that is), the player will be forced to use whatever he or she can find around the resort. Furthermore, the game takes place at a resort/posh hotel, so at least you will have pretty scenery to look at while tearing apart the walking dead (it also just occurred to me how strange it is that there were random rooms of guns in a middle of a swamp. I think I need to replay L4D).
I give this game a “potentially good” rating from its trailer and its description. Let’s cross our fingers!
