This week, Capcom released a free demo of the game for Wii and DS owners. It offers some gameplay and a little tutorial for the controls, so fans can get their paws on a little piece of Okamiden until its release in three weeks.

Stephanie’s Impressions
Since the announcement of Okamiden, I have been really looking forward to finally getting a chance to check out the gameplay for myself. I’ve had a few concerns about the movement of the game to the DS, especially what seemed to be an awkward lag seen during the demo videos between using the celestial brush and the actual gameplay. Luckily, the lag does not exist when you play the game and is actually very smooth.
The new controls do take some getting used to, especially when fighting demons, but are otherwise very close to how the Wii controls worked. The gameplay is very reminiscent of Okami; while that might bother some who are looking for a little more distinction between the two games, I am very pleased with it. Overall, the DS looks like a good medium for the game and I can’t wait to play the full version when it releases!
Okamiden releases March 15th.
