PS3s Will Not Be Sold in Europe for at Least Ten Days

You may not have heard, but Geohot is not the only person with whom Sony is having a legal issue.   The well-known electronics and appliances manufacturer LG has taken legal action against Sony claiming that the the PS3 is using blu ray technology that belongs to LG.

Customs officials in Europe have been instructed to immediately seize any incoming PS3 shipments, although the PS3s that are currently in the country (in warehouses or stores) may still be sold.

LG and Sony have a long list of legal interactions currently in play, but this is by far the most important one for gamers.  While Sony has not lost the battle against LG yet, the currently ruling is in favor of the latter.  Whether LG will remain as the frontrunner in this battle is unclear; however, it seems likely that LG will prevail, given the current situation.

If Sony loses, it would have to reimburse LG for every single PS3 ever sold.  Ouch.

I am not sure if Sony will find support in its customers after the current Geohot scandal, leaving many gamers confused as to whether or not Sony is truly keeping its most loyal fans’ interests at heart.
