Techno Source previewed its new Tetris game at the 2011 Toy Fair. The new game is called Tetris: Link, a cross between Tetris and Connect Four. The gameplay is quite simple: each player starts off with about twenty-five Tetrominoes (yes, that is the name of the Tetris pieces!) of their own color. The first player rolls a die to see what piece he or she would have to play. The die has six sides: five of the sides are pictures of the Tetrominoes, and one side that displays an image like a wild card from Uno (this allows you to play any piece).
To start earning points, you have to connect three of your own Tetrominoes. The first time you connect three of your own pieces, you earn three points. You then gain one point every time you add to that link. In Tetris: Link you can also lose points; if you put the Tetromino in the wrong place, and it blocks an open spot, you can lose up to two points. While at the Toy Fair, I was able to play one round with the employee explaining the game; I found it fun and full of potential competiveness. Tetris: Link will be available to purchase in spring of 2011 for $19.99.
