With less than two weeks left till the release of DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY (yes, that is the full title), Square Enix has decided to stir up some buzz by announcing a release date for the official prologue to the game, DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY.
Similar to Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, DISSIDIA duodecim prologus is a short prequel story to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] designed to give players a taste of what’s to come in the full release while, at the same time, offering a unique story experience only found in prologus. Revolving around newcomer Lightning, from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII, prologus chronicles the the events leading up to 012[duodecim]. In addition, items collected in prologus carry over into 012[duodecim].
As an extra incentive, downloading prologus also unlocks Final Fantasy VII‘s Aerith Gainsborough as an assist character. Sorry, Aerith fans, but she’s not playable. Though here’s hoping she manages to watch out for Sephiroth this time around.
DISSIDIA duodecim prologus hits the US PlayStation Network Store on Tuesday, March 15th for $2.99, with DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] hitting US stores the following week for $29.99. For more information, check out the official press release.

The prologue to the upcoming DISSIDIA 012[duodecim]™ FINAL FANTASY for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, this all-new tale focuses on Lightning, the protagonist in FINAL FANTASY XIII.
