Just this past Monday Marvel revealed a new costume for the incredibly popular Ultimate Spider-Man, but what may be even more controversial is that it won’t be the loveable Peter Parker under the mask! Coming out of the “Death of Spider-Man” event that is being played out in both Ult. Spider-Man and Ult. Comics Avengers Vs Ultimates, the Spidey world that we’ve known since 2000 is going to be turned upside down!
If you’re following the story already then you know that Peter’s life has gone from grade A awesome to F.U.B.A.R. in just a day. On Marve’s website, Editor in Chief Axel Alonso said:
“We called this story ‘Death of Spider-Man’ for a reason.”
“This is a huge story that’ll have fans around the world talking for a long time as we set the stage for the debut of our new Spider-Man.”
This is in fact a HUGE event that is flying in the shadow of Fear Itself, but there are still many questions to be asked as “Death of Spider-man” seem to have climaxed in just the last issue of Ult. Spider-Man and Ult. Avengers vs Ultimates. One question I have for all of you is what do you think of the new costume and a new Spider-Man? Personally I like the design on the new costume, it’s obviously darker but doesn’t really come off as menacing like the tradition Black Costume does (just kidding here you go). I do have concerns as to someone taking over the role of Spider-man. This would make probably the biggest break writer Brian Michael Bendis has made to separate Ultimate Spider-man from the traditional 616 Spider-man, but if anyone can make it work it’s Bendis.
Let me know in the comments below what you think of the Death of Spider-Man so far, the image of the new costume released Monday, and the news of a new Spider-Man?
