Pixar Announces Its Thirteenth Movie: Brave

I don’t know about you guys, but Pixar movies always give me a huge nerdgasm. Heck, make that animated movies in general. Something about the classic fairytale storyline coupled with the gorgeous 3D rendering just gets me every time. So as a Pixar nerd and part-time feminist, I was especially excited to hear that Pixar recently released stills of its thirteenth release, Brave.

Pixar’s latest concoction will take place in a fictitious realm within the Scottish highlands. As with many Disney/Pixar movies, the lead character is a headstrong young woman who is determined to prove herself in the face of adversity. In Brave, the lead, Merida, is a fiery princess with a penchant for archery, which leads to trouble for herself and the rest of the kingdom. Read on to find out more about the film.

Brave is set to be released in June 2012, and will feature the voice talents of Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Kevin McKidd and Craig Ferguson, as well as Kelly McDonald as the lead role.

Personally, I’m absolutely stoked. Pixar has rarely disappointed me in the past, so I’m sure their latest will be amazing as well. Be sure to comment and tell us what you think!
