Review: Venture Bros. Season 4 Blu-ray

In the early days of Adult Swim there was a particular show that really stood out to me. Of course having Patrick Warburton voice acting certainly helps, though I think it was the odd sense of humor that really pulled me in. If you haven’t guessed I’m talking about the Venture Bros. With the recent release of the entire Season 4 on Blu Ray figured it was a great chance to review Season 4 as a whole. Though this review will also go over the Blu Ray itself and what it has to offer in the Audio and Video department.

Story:

I’ll do my best with trying to avoid Major Spoliers in the story synopsis. This time around the story doesn’t focus on any one character. It does a nice job touching base on some of the more sub characters that we’ve come to love. While I was sad to see Brock take more of a side role this time around, it was nice to see some attention given to both Hank and Dean. There were plenty of highlights to this season. Some of my favorite moments included Dean’s journey into Progressive Rock., Noire Detective Hank, the Butterglider, 24 kicking a whole bunch of ass and of course plenty of Shore Leave. Oh and let us not forget (In Dr.Orpheus’s voice) THE ORDER OF THE TRIAD!!!! While this isn’t my favorite season of Venture Bros it still has some of the best episodes in the franchise. Everybody Comes to Hank ranking in at #1 followed by one of the best Season finales I’ve seen.

Video Quality

When Venture Bros. Season 4 was first announced I quickly made a break for my DVR. Updating my schedule to make sure all the HD versions of the show was set to record. I watched all but 1 episode in HD and comparing it to the Blu Ray was pretty interesting. As the Blu Ray complete destroys the HD DVR version of the show. Everything looks super clean, especially the line art. The colors are very vibrant and makes the show really pop.

Audio

While I did get to watch the series originally off my DVR in HD, I was always adjusting the sound to be able to hear it. With the Blu Ray however the sound quality is top notch. Everything has a very nice blend to it. The music can be clearly heard even while characters are talking. Of course hearing Patrick Warburton as Brock was certainly the best part.

Special Features

The Special features are pretty decent, bringing with them a whole mess of Deleted Scenes. I was also impressed to see various Audio Commentary along with Promos used at various events. Though I think the best thing was to discover was the unedited audio for the Season Finale, so I finally found out what a Rusty Venture is. I would go into more depth but the Rusty Venture is very NSFW.

Overall

Overall I was pretty impressed with what the Blu Ray had to offer. Not only did it sport amazing Video and Audio quality but the entire season is on 1 disc. A must have for any Venture Fan.
