Spare Change: Mortal Kombat Kollector’s Edition

Its time to test your might and smash the Piggy Bank! Mortal Kombat is back with a brutal Collector’s Edition. Does this Collector’s Edition pack a punch?

Mortal Kombat has always had a place in my heart. I grew up saving all my spare change just to play Mortal Kombat in the arcade with my older brother. The warriors of Nehterrealm and Earthrealm are back and are accompanied by a Vicious Collector’s Edition.

The Box

The box has a silhouette of Sub-Zero meeting his demise being impaled by Scorpion’s infamous Bloody Spear attack . The package’s motif is based on Goro’s lair with a prisoner shackled on the side. There is a view through to one side of the bookends, revealing Scorpion. On the back it has the Mortal Kombat Dragon logo. The packaging could be displayed, but the contents are what you really want to show off.

Physical Content

The Kollector’s Edition comes with two book ends. They depict a fight between Scorpion and his nemesis, Sub-Zero. Really nice. It is highly detailed. Both fighters feel really solid, study. It isn’t cheap plastic and already worth the extra cash. Every time see them I hear in my head “Get over here!”

It includes an art book. Most fans will enjoy the concept art.

Digital Extras

The Kollector’s Edition comes with a Scorpion’s outfit for your avatar (Xbox 360) and a Netherrealm Studio shirt for your avatar as well. It’s a great way to show your loyalty to the franchise and your pride for Mortal Kombat. In addition, you get a classic in-game costume for Ermac.

The Verdict

The Kollector’s Edition truly reflects the reboot of this classic franchise. As someone who has spent countless quarters on the old arcades, I can say this: any Mortal Kombat fan will enjoy the Collector’s Edition.

Its retail price is $99.99
