Hello everyone! I’m a new writer for Pixelated Geek! The name’s Jennifer, nice to meet ya! I am not only a gaming geek but also one that makes cakes. So I have decided that I will post at least one (but I hope more) geek cake per month. First cake post: Totoro!
I have been interested in making cakes for quite a few years now. I tried out culinary/pastry school but when I spent more time making hollandaise sauce and boiling bones than learning to make cakes, I decided to just learn on my own. I am a huge Miyazaki fan and so I made this cake for my boyfriends birthday last week. I got my idea from other cakes I had seen online and went from there. All of the character pieces are made from home made marshmallow fondant on a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I am no professional but I think it turned out pretty darn good ;) I would really like to make more cakes with his characters on them. I think a Ponyo cake would look amazing! I have made a lot of cakes this past month due to all of my family and friends having birthdays so I will definitely have some more posted soon. I did not make a cake for my birthday which was the 5th but I might just make some fondant figures in my “free time” and post them. Until next post, hope you enjoy these tasty pictures.
