There’s an old adage that says, “If you love something let it go, if it comes back to you then it was meant to be.” I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the ThunderCats (debuting on Cartoon Network this coming Friday, July 29) but I’ve been a little concerned about the reboot. It wasn’t until I saw this Friday’s upcoming premiere preview at Comic Con that I was finally confident of the new series. I interviewed several members of the cast and crew at SDCC about the series’ premiere; check it out below!
First, the entire cast is brimming with enthusiasm for the new series. Larry Kenney, the voice actor for the original Lion-O and now appropriately cast as Lion-O’s father Claudius, is very pleased with the series’ new direction. Emmanuelle Chriqui, who provides the voice of Cheetara, also shares the same excitement.
Producer Michael Jelenic and art director Dan Norton discussed all the hard work that everyone has put into the series. While they were both well aware of the shoes they were trying to fill, neither one showed any sign of doubt when it came to the quality and content of this week’s premiere and the rest of the series.
The ThunderCats hour-long season premiere will air Friday, July 29 at 8:00pm ET/PT on Cartoon Network. New episodes air every Friday after the premiere.
