Recently, Razer began to Tweet, Facebook, and otherwise viral-market the URL for a (as of now) rather bare website: www.pcgamingisnotdead.com. As the link suggests (and as one might surmise based on Razer’s product line), the gaming and computing gear company intends to wow us with irrefutable proof that PC gaming is, well, alive and kicking.
As an arrogant PC elitist myself, I can’t help but agree with Razer’s assertion. It’s the execution that doesn’t have me quite convinced. The website itself is cryptic and the Wall Street Journal ad that Razer purchased smacks of overconfidence (even though on second thought, the chosen medium might be perfect). But here’s the kicker: the website displays a timer counting down the hours until August 26. Could this have anything to do with the company’s panel at PAX?
Please, Razer. Don’t disappoint us; we’re expecting something big.
