Saying an entry in Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series usually has some bugs is a huge understatement. Most fans of the series are very tolerant of the glitches that come with the game, most of them enjoying their results and posting them on the web.
But today Bethesda promised relief from some of the worst bugs for console players of their latest game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
It seems some PS3 and Xbox users are having some major, incredibly annoying glitches. PS3 players appear to have a glitch that causes intense, often unplayable lag that increases with longer game times. This is a result of the larger save files for games that have been played for longer periods of time.
Xbox players have a whole different glitch, which causes some of the textures that have been lowered in quality to not return to higher settings when prompted. This particular glitch seems to occur most often when the game is installed on the hard drive, optional for Xbox players.
Today Pete Hines, Bethesda’s VP of Marketing, acknowledged at least the PS3 issue of lag would be addressed in an upcoming patch, expected to come out next week. Hines also reassured players that the upcoming patch will not affect characters or save files.
Good thing too, since most Skyrim fans have probably dedicated enough hours to the game to list it as their full-time job.
