In 2003, Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans animated series debuted, and for five years the tales of young heroes on the verge of becoming the next generation of super heroes built a strong and faithful following. The series blended heroic stories with the comedy of most children’s programing, but in 2008 the series was canceled and Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire, and Cyborg disappeared from television.
That is, until in 2012 a new version was revised and shorts were added to Cartoon Network’s new DC Nation block of programing. Now on the backs of their re-found popularity the Teen Titans are getting a second chance in the new series Teen Titans GO!
This year at San Diego Comic-Con I got the chance to speak with Michael Jelenic (Brave and the Bold) and Aaron Horvath (Mad) about the upcoming revival of Teen Titans and what we can expect from the old gang this time around.
What do you think of a more comedic Teen Titans? Will you miss the old battles against their arch nemesis Slade? Or are you looking forward to a more lighthearted look at a day in the life of DC’s young heroes? Let us know in the comment section below.
