There have been some rumors lately about what’s going to happen to Damian Wayne, the current Robin. His absence from the upcoming issues of Batman & Robin, Batman, Inc., and other Bat-titles have had fans speculating something sinister in the works. Those suspicions can be laid to rest now, as DC Comics has made an official statement through the NY Post as to Damian Wayne’s fate.

Since 1940, Robin’s legacy has been one of triumph and tragedy. Some who have donned the mantle have lived on with great success and fan praise, while others have been prematurely sent to their graves by the cold hand of those same fans. What has stayed consistent throughout the years has always been his teamwork and heroism.
Something new was added to the latest incarnation of The Boy Wonder: blood. Damian, the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul from 1987’s Son of the Demon, took on the tights after Bruce’s apparent death and carried on the Wayne name and Robin legacy alongside Dick Grayson, the original Robin, who put on the emotionally heavy cowl of Batman. Despite a lack of excitement and anticipation, little Wayne has worked hard to carve his own niche into the Bat-family and earn the acceptance of the fans, only now to meet his end in this week’s Batman, Inc. #8.
