E3 is in it’s infancy, but we’ve already seen some exciting news from the biggest developers and publishers, and Ubisoft’s E3 2013 Press Conference is no exception. Check out our overview right here!

Well, starting off with Rocksmith was a choice. I’m not saying it’s a choice that’s bad on a Mr. Caffeine level, but it’s awfully close.

What . . . what does #girlwood even mean, Mrs. Tyler? Also, if you’re in need of an E3 Drinking Game, I submit the following for your approval: Take a shot every time one of her jokes falls flat during this press briefing. Pixelated Geek is not responsible for any injuries suffered during the course of this dangerous, dangerous game.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist: still looks nasty, still sounds wrong. I can’t help but think this title would work better if they had either retained Mr. Ironside’s services, or retired Sam as the protagonist, because Michael Ironside = Sam Fisher, all day, every day, forever. That concern aside, this looks to be everything we’re hoping it can be. The return of a very authentic-looking Spies vs. Mercs multi-player is also a huge plus; this is sure to be a big deal.

Rayman Legends looks to continue the trend of near perfect 2D platforming brilliance that the franchise is known for, with the trademark humor and luscious visuals we’ve come to expect from the veteran franchise.

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is something of a engima. Almost all of the press material on this title is vague, but it seems to be a 3/4 isometric dungeon crawler with a heavily-customizable but accessible DM mode. Certainly a brilliant genre choice, and the Free-To-Play model is definitely accelerating in terms of popularity. This could be a big winner.

Southpark: The Stick of Truth could easily be a punchline. The fact that it’s arguably the most anticipated RPG of the next two years is a ridiculous truth, but with a veteran developer like Obsidian behind it, mountains of cash, and the fact that series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are dedicated gamers themselves, that ridiculous truth becomes much less ridiculous. This is looking like the guilty pleasure of whichever holiday season it chooses to be the guilty pleasure of

The Crew looks to be what any game adaptation of the Fast and Furious should have been, with massive connectivity and detailed vehicle customization, and featuring an open-world USA with multiple requisite terrains and game-play that blurs the lines between single, co-op, and multi-player formats. Extra props for proving it’s a live demo with clumsy demo handling.

Watch Dogs is still looking to be a Game of the Year contender, if not the decade. We cannot get enough of this one.

Just Dance 2014

Just Dance is one of the largest new IP’s of the last generation, and managed to very successfully monopolize on the motion control craze. It’s no surprise that Ubi is continuing their support into the next generation of gaming.

Ubisoft looks to be dedicated to continuing their support for their financial juggernaut and fan favorite Rabbids franchise with an interactive-tv show Rabbids Invasion. It’s a neat idea, but it feels like having multimedia shoved down our throats again. It is certainly a refreshing change of pace to see any sort of Kinect support, even if from a third-party publisher.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag had me at the removal of the preachy and forced modern day story line, hooked me deeper with pirates, and allowing for a more open world to explore sold me the bridge. This game just looks incredible.

The Trials franchise has always been a fan favorite since their introduction, and Trials Fusion looks to be well positioned to continue that trend, and the movement of Trials Frontier, an addictive action-puzzler diriving title to mobile phones is a great move for Ubi.

Perhaps the most captivating trailer of E3 thus far is The Division, if a touch enigmatic. It looks to be an third-person open world action title, with strong asynchronous co-op elements set in a just-post-apocalyptic US. The game-play sequence shown at their presser is pretty darned impressive, with some great presentational choices and raises some interesting questions about MMO features. I always knew Black Friday would be the end of the world.
