Nintendo and GameFreak made an unexpected announcement this week during their “Pokemon Direct” presentation that fans of the classic Pokemon titles should be excited to hear.
Instead of the three starter Pokemon that were originally announced, players of the upcoming Pokemon X and Y will be given the choice of the three original starter Pokemon — Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
The originally assumed three “starter” Pokemon — Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie — will be made available for selection from a “friend” in the game, instead of the Professor of the region.
Continuing their recent announcement about mega evolution, the three original starter Pokemon will have their own “mega” form. The trailer below shows all the details.
