Yesterday TV Guide (another source of geek news apparently) released the first trailer for the next DC Original Animated movie following Justice League: War. Based of off Grant Morrison’s Batman and Son story line where he first introduced Damian Wayne, the preteen son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. In the story the young assassin becomes the next Robin after Tim Drake, but his training from the League of Shadows clashes with the rules of the bat as Damian proves himself to be utterly ruthless.
Jason O’Mara will be returning from Justice League: War to reprise the role of Batman. With him Morena Baccarin will be voicing Talia, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra’s, David McCallum as Alfred, Xander Berkeley as Prof. Langstrom (aka Man-Bat), and Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen it, or if you just want to watch it again. It does look pretty good.
A sigh of relief also came from DC fans as a non-New 52 story was revealed to be the next animated film. After Flashpoint, the New 52 bridge, and Justice League: War it almost seemed as if more and more of the old universe was fading away in the spotlight of its new edgier counterpart. This film could easily have been Batman: Court of Owls, Aquaman: Throne of Atlantis, or Wonder Woman: War. Not that any of those stories wouldn’t make a great animated movie, but as DC fans still deal with fall out from the New 52 turn it’s nice to know that the stories that made them fans in the first place have yet to be forgotten.
