“A new challenger has entered the ring!” The announcer screams as a second player hits the start button. Ladies and gentlemen, in a press release issued by Capcom, the release date for Ultra Street Fighter 4 has been announced!
Come June 3rd, USF4 hits PSN, and on June 4th, XBLA enters the fray. On August 5th retail copies will arrive in stores, and the PC version hits on August 8th.
Granted, it’s a bit weird that all versions of the game are getting staggered releases, but at least we finally get to lay our hands on it.
Pre-ordering from select retailers will grant players with the “2014 Challengers Costume Pack” which contains alternate costumes for the five new characters: Hugo, Elena, Poison, Rolento, and Decapre.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 includes a total of 44 playable characters, six new battle environments, and tweaked gameplay which will make USF4 the most balanced Street Fighter game to date. In addition to that, USF4 includes the “version select” mode, which allows you to play previous versions of characters from past iterations of Street Fighter 4.
Digital copies of USF4 will be available for $39.99 for PS3 and $29.99 for PC. Retail copies will be sold for $39.99, and digital upgrades for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 will be for 14.99. The digital upgrade only applies to owners of Super Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.
It seems that Xbox players are being snubbed on the digital front, while PC players have to once again wait an extra long time before they can play USF4. Meanwhile PS3 owners get the luxury of playing the game first and getting complete digital copies.
