Do you believe in miracles? If so then last night’s Sony press conference was a really good time. And I’m here to tell you exactly why.
After years of little news if any news at all from a game that was first announced in 2009 (that’s 6 years ago) the Last Guardian finally rose from the ashes and showed its colors and its plumage. And trust me, the gameplay footage is amazing to watch after not seeing the game for so long.
This will be the first full-fledged game from Team ICO since Shadow of the Colossus back in 2005 and it looks to recapture the feeling that their first two games emulated so easily. That feeling of endless adventure and mystery, never quite knowing where the story was going but being enraptured just by the world you were placed in. And honestly, the dog/griffin, or whatever kind of creature you want to think of it as, looks amazing and I can only imagine how complex they’ve made its AI in order for it to easily interact with you as you play through the game.
Sony confirmed the game to be coming in 2016 (though without a specific time-window yet). I think it’s a game that will be truly special and we will see if it was worth the wait.
